30988, Request: Cabal Pledging
Posted by Daevryn on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
We're not making a rule around this at this time, but as a request, please try to limit yourself to one character pledged to a cabal at a time. It really throws me/us off when I see, for example, 50 pledges for a cabal and then realize that around a quarter of them are all played by the same player.

I'm not ready to try to move to a one player / one character restriction, but that's a little ridiculous.

Deleted mine, all but one I think. And that one will probably go in the next few days. Sorry. I blame Character Touretts. If there are any left, they should auto when time comes. Yeah, it's probably me that caused this. Sorry.

Personally,

I think a 2 or 3 character per player restriction is actually a decent idea.

1 per player is just a bit much though.

He's not saying, only play 1 character.

I think what he's saying is, only play (or pledge) one character per cabal.
For example, don't have 5 characters all pledged to Fortress at the same time.

(Daev, correct me if I'm wrong.)

Seconded on the 2, maybe 3 character limit. If you have 10 characters, how much of any are you really playing, and it raises more concerns about gear hording, knowledge sharing and other concerns people have about multi-charring.

Of course, I like to have two actually, mainly because one is a more serious rp character with a role/purpose, and the other is a run around testing ideas I have about character builds type.

Kalisda was my serious bard char and Salenya was my test bard to try out a ideas I had from playing Kalisda about a non-instrument bard's viability as an elf with all the possible edges. Only thing I did that was likely wrong was go into battle with the elf since it was an opposing cabal, but I never played a rager so wanted to try them out as well.
As a note, sword shield elven bard in battle = Pretty deadly in a skilled bard player's hand I think.
31031, I wish the Bard class wasn't available

Or at the very least I wish they couldn't be battle.

Or that they couldn't use an instrument in battle but rather did their best when they weren't assisting and singing in the back ground.

I know it's my opinion, but they've always just been a lame concept even though they are my prefered groupmates.
31040, Bards aren't too bad

It's a bit tough to believe the concept between bards not being magical I'll admit that much, but it is what it is and I doubt they're going anywhere. I think they're fun to play in any respect, since they're a class that can do it all, solo or grouped. Have to distend belief that a song can do what the songs do, but still, in a fantasy world anything should be possible.

My elf villager didn't use an instrument, but that was by choice. I think they have their place though, since ragers can be at severe disadvantages sometimes, like when they don't have the head and have to retrieve, they can at least have some aid. Otherwise they're unprepped walking kill me signs. Situational sure, but eh, it tends to balance out and everyone kills bards first anyway.
