Not having a working DNS for your site is really unprofessional and it stops the acquisition of new players. This would be the biggest reason for me not to play cf anymore, because it shows that you don't have anywhere near the motivation to acquire and keep new players.

Semaphore,
You must not play the same MUD I do, because I play Carrion Fields.
That's what this message board is for. In this mud I and many others play we have some immortals that spend a lot of thier free time working thier asses off to maintain a game, many of them 40+ hours a week at that. These same immortals get no compensation for the work they perfom, instead they have a bunch of forum trolls that constantly feel the need to insult and degrade them because they dont fix what in one players eyes is the most important issue with the game. This is a game that is through thier hard work and dedication put online, for no fee to us, the players of said game, constantly upgraded and debugged, and has been for over 10 years, and not single one of the immortals has had any compensation, all they get are the heartache and grief a lot of players feel it's necessary to give them. Next time you decide to give them grief, why dont you think about that some of them like me, work a 40-60 hour a week job, then come home to thier signifigant other and kids fix thier toys, clean up thier messes, then they take the time out of thier busy lives to log on to this "game" and take the abuse of said forum trolls to work on something that has given them joy and entertainment not because they have to, but because they choose to. If you want a game where you have a good grounds to feel that the staff of the game should cater to your every whim, please go play WOW. Where for the amount of work someone like Zulg puts into it, they get compensated for thier with with 50k a year and benefits, instead of constant heartache and grief. I preffer you thank the imms here for the hard work and effort the put into making this game what it is and has been for over 10 years. A fun place to escape to for a few hours a days and forget about all the hassles and headaches that you see in your daily life.

Still think that. But I think we can handle straightforwardness in criticism.

#27970, "Commendations"

To the imm staff and who creates the content and mechanics.

Excellent job, Carrion Fields has the best and most balanced (considering the complexity) gameplay of any game I've played, and I've played a ton. You guys would be an asset to any game design team, it is a shame the player base is so small here. Let's change that.

How come you arent posting on Dio's asking them to change the pointer in the links section from Carrionfields.com to Forums.carrionfields.com?

carrionfields.net and forums.carrionfields.com both have functional DNS entries. If you're talking about them, then you're just wrong.

If you're talking about carrionfields.com, then the site's down. Possibly for the long term. I agree with you that the staff should update the links on external sites that point to carrionfields.com, if they haven't already, but in the pantheon of things needing to be done after the big crash I'm not sure I'd put that one at the top. And I certainly wouldn't rake them over the coals for not getting to it on your arbitrary time table.

My suggestion to you: don't play CF anymore. Given your attitude, it looks like a win-win for both sides of the equation.

Update:

I just checked the CF external links.

Top mud sites: points to forums.carrionfields.com.

Mud connector: has the right port and IP address, but still lists the domain name as "carrionfields.com". Looks like an oversight.

RPG Gateway: gives a weird error when I click through using the link at the top of this page. They may have removed CF from the listings when carrionfields.com went down.

Mudlists: site seems to be down entirely.

Contrary to what people seem to think, I am not actively playing cf. Although I would like to it is not a Win for me currently, but I think with 30 players on average, it would be a win for CF, even if I'm not perfect.

Number one priority SHOULD be having accurate information on how to play the game. Nothing will stop potential players faster than broken links and wrong info.

Why do you care, though, if you're not playing? Planning on coming back at some point?
