30734, Favorite RP Char you played.
Posted by Kraenesk on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
What was your all time favorite charachter you've ever played for RP reasons not using PK as any kind of judge?

Mine was hands down Ulfin, my Grummorum empowered gnome healer.

I had my favorite over the top morphing role, crazy descriptions that changed on a weekly basis.

My favorite moment was going to hell with Sevietrem as emperor while
I was a Baron. It wasnt really public yet that I was a Baron, we made it all the way to Satan with me constantly demanding that they
reffer to my Sanc as "Grummy Stench". When we reached Satan I doppled
Seveitrem before we left hell to let them know what had just happened. I had a blast with everything I did with that char.
His faithfull weapon was "Sliver the Backbiter" even when he
thought he was a paladin and geared for damroll and hitroll.
I have nothing but good memories of the char, having Grummy
pop up next to me and either randomly hug me, or fart on me
depending on his mood. Probably my best CF memories.

What are yours?

Scion half-elf bard that had no idea she was evil and just sang to random people as practice.

I had so many fun interactions with her with a lot of different players/characters. Playing evil just lends itself to more fun I think since you don't have to be evil evil and are pretty much free to do anything they want. Got to have lots of good interactions with goodies as well as evils, and really had friends and classy enemies everywhere. Ranged from Lornis and Frismund talking about how useless other people were or who they wanted to kill to Lornkanamas always checking up on me and preaching about saving my soul while I would try to kill them. Then there was Mardrin who was just funny as hell to interact with. Befriending people that killed me was also fun too, like Dakazhul and once I got titled it just led to a lot more fun interactions. And playing evil that gradually became evil and realized and revelled in it was so much more fun than just starting out dark and evil.

Was fun to play a scion too if I have to say, lots of them have decent rp when you interact with them.
30899, My favorite RP chars were 1: Zubi and 2: Arrna 3: Deiha

Maybe Ckol at 4ht. :D

Zubi's role was SO awesome and all the interactions I had as her were really cool.

There's nothing quite so fun as a (technically) evil w-elf druid who's truly only concerned with balance and nature, and sees all his fellow druid-y buddies as too flower-huggy. Creepy, loves to point out all the nasties that are around in nature, and let them rampage through town. Then on the flip-side, quite happy to randomly wander around and heal people who're out wandering the woods and facing dangers.
30877, Tarleton, hands down...
Posted by Shenkov on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Tarleton was, by far, the funnest RP character I've ever played. I have only one regret - not following through with the wedding (to no fewer than three women at once). His deadliness, survivability and Emperor-dom really added to that.

(Close contenders: Dullameh, Shenkov, Dazan)

I had a blast with all the bard-notes and reaction, and hope everyone else did, too. His actual role was like two chapters long and fairly shallow; it was the quirks and personality that made this character work.

The downside is that I haven't been able to think up a role or character combo that would be nearly as entertaining as that one. I had one hero since then (Kudaj, Imperial felar warrior) and after the pwipe, I have zero motivation to rank up anything else.

I also have absolutely no handle on the current cabal situation. Anyone have any suggestions? I've never played a Fort character, but last I heard, it has like a bazillion players.

After deletion of three paladins Fortress is not really in power as it was for a many months. Imperials has more consistent players. Tribunals overwhelms the Tree as well now.
30874, Drezen
Posted by Mek on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Drezen was a blast to RP. The whole "filthy boot thief" thing came from a role entry, and it just really stuck. I'd often just show up somewhere and start emoting about looking over everyone's boots, and since I had the PK mustard with him to actually be scary, it caused genuine concern }(.

Second to him was probably Urden. He might have even been more fun, but it was so long ago that I can't remember the details as well. But, playing an insane dark-elf invoker Chancellor was great.

I did love that role.

Somehow I always manage to be incredibly busy whenever something like that comes along. (And then have lots of time when one isn't.) Alas.

I enjoyed our interactions as Endalion. I think your only failure as Brumm was giving up too soon, as it was a solid character.
30885, Yeah. but I really didn't even know anything

About PK at the time and I was frustrated as hell aboutrepeated deaths and I was a worase at rage deletion then more than now.

Glad you liked him.

30749, Definitely Padraig
Posted by NMTehW on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I got totally owned by most everyone, but pirate duergar is so damn fun. Padraig was the start of a duergar addiction that I am trying to kick.
30747, Kruuank. Hands ####ing down.
Posted by TMNS_lazy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Though I once played a paladin on another MUD that I got the most IMMERSED in the role.

But teh Kruuank was awesome. I really really did my best to roleplay him at all times. Even when it would have been smarter to powergamer (something I am definitely guilty of now).

Zandrumial, gnome healer of Pico

Dopel is just the most fun power in the game. They should bring it back for Heralds.
30748, Agreed RE Doppel.
Posted by Lhydia on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
By far the most overpowered ability in the game in the right hands. I wish self-prizing isn't the only way it'd be given out now though.

I'd say forceduel is generally more OP, if we're not taking RP restrictions into account. If we are, well that's why I suggested giving it to Heralds. There's only so murderous they're really supposed to be. Plus most of the "right hands" people who would also abuse dopel wouldn't play a herald.

As for self-prizing, doesn't that not work? There's a certain role I've entertained playing that basically depends on dopel to work right, but as far as I know if you want a specific reward you have to walk a tightrope of having the reward be extremely appropriate, without it being so perfectly aligned with your role that it's obvious you're looking for it. And in the case of dopel it's even harder since you first have to make sure people even remember that it exists when they're thinking of giving something out.

It could also be changed such that offensive ability is limited somehow while dopeled. Anyhow, while it's is a powerful pk ability, I really see it almost entirely as an RP ability in terms of what makes it awesome.

Entropy was fun. Ishmael was super-fun. Shokai and Cyradia were way cool.

Cabal dynamics were fun. Zorszaul was cool in the few cases he logged on. Balrahd and Garenth were a blast. Raiding Empire with Maran and screwing things up to the chagrin of Maran gave a lot of lolz. Entropy gnome druid (forgot his name) was great. Kelbecso (Ygnacio) was a great arch-enemy.

10 years ago. Wow...
30875, Hey that was me!
Posted by Mek on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Fienn! I made you carry me around on your shoulders, and yes, melting Kelbecso's face with sunrays was a blast :)
30739, Draktel
Posted by Minyar1 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I think for me Draktel was one of my favorites. Grurk would randomly beat on me if necessary and in fact got me killed once by basically putting my hp to 1 and then getting hit by an agro mob. It sucked, but I understood why. It was a lot of fun playing an Emperor for awhile and just being outgunned so much of the time. I think this is when grurk started to wane in his times and eventually left us for awhile.
30779, It's cuz he didn't have me to kick around :)
Posted by TMNS_lazy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I always wondered what would have happened if I didn't delete. I mean, I'm pretty sure you would have ended up High Priest at least if not Emperor still, but it would have been fun since I hated Grurk and you were a tattoed priest of his.
30736, Mine was Lokrin
