30716, Lowbie Looting and Cabalwars
Posted by NMTehW on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
There are NPC guardians which appeared outside areas (I think) to stop lowbies going in as ghosts and snagging pimp regear sets which they could then rock their range with. How about applying this to cabals?
I'm thinking it could work for levels 11-20. Basically if you are in this range and not a member of that cabal, the guardian will stop you from getting access to the outer.
I don't have a huge problem with lowbie looting in general, but when it's combined with cabalwars it lately seems to be the last straw that is making a lot of cool players delete/quit. The tacit assurance that you will get at least some of your stuff back if you fall against bad odds is what makes raiding fun and exciting. It sucks when you have to change your raiding strategy because an out of range uncaballed douche is waiting to strip you when you fall.
Thoughts?

30728, No, let the looting continue...

Gear needs to circulate, not pile up in certain cabals and never leave. Let the looting proceed.

30733, Then join a cabal and loot away

What isn't acceptable is ####ing up the raiding dynamic without any obligation to reap the ####ty fruit you are sowing.

That if you loot a higher level char, then said higher level char is in your pk range until they have killed you <1-3> times.

30726, And also

The higher level char has a 'forgive' command to get out of your pk range, in the scenario that they are more scared of the lowbie than vice versa.

30727, I really like this suggestion. :D Adds a HUGE risk for lowbies to full loot heroes etc.

As they do get a PK timer that they have to wait out before they can quit out.

30724, Only problem I see with this

Is that I've been inducted for retrieving before this level (Nererial).
And some people will just do this at level 21 instead.
Be easier to just use the code that stops sub-level-10s looting, I'd have thought, and apply it to all corpses more than 15 levels above you.
That's if you want to do that. Personally I'd be in favour, but I'm not sure how many others would. It would have bigger implications than just preventing the looting. The impact on gear circulation could be significant and I'm not sure what it would look like.

You could maybe have corpse looting obey PK rules, with the added element of using the corpse's owner's "trust" status.
So if you have trustcabal on then cabalmates can loot your corpse regardless of their level. If you have trustgroup on then groupmates can loot your corpse regardless of their level. Otherwise, in order to loot the corpse you have to be in its owner's PK range.
There would need to be a special flag that makes the killer always able to loot a corpse he created, in case the person's dying cost them some xp and made it so they were no longer in their killer's PK range.

30717, I think something should be done here. I am just not sure what. nt
