30303, Specter echo

There's a mob, a specter, that drain experience from you pretty much every round, by touching you. I've never seen this before and to me at least the echo is kinda crummy, makes me think ooc'ish.

The specter touches you with his slimy fingers, draining your experience!

It's annoying to lose xp by fighting but that's cool, it's the wording that bothers me like I said. Maybe something like "saps some of your memories" or saps some of your learning or whatever. Draining experience just sounds bleh to me. Anyone else?

I think you need to look at the word "experience" in a different light. It's probably referring more to your experiences (your training, practice, etc.) than it is your "experience points" the numeric stat.

I know what it's referring to. But "experience" has important meaning in the game in an ooc sense and like it or not seeing the sentence "saps your experience" makes you think of your, well, experience. As in points. Just seems like there could be a better way of echoing that, that's all.

I would rather have something like that be very clear, than masked in vague IC terms. Experience points is basically a very unrealistic concept. Wrapping it in some IC terms doesn't do a lot of good since it will never really make sense. More importantly, if I ever got drained a significant amount of experience, and then realized that the only echo was some obscure reference to memories (which would make me think of a forget-spell type affect) I would be pretty annoyed.
