30053, Do "You people" keep a no RP list?
Posted by Pro on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I never get Immteraction, ever. And by never, I mean once in.. oh... well never. (I'm not talking about if I ambush an Imm in their shrine or anything.)

Litterally the last Immteraction I recal getting was in the 90's when an Imm took over the adventurer in Galadon and grouped with me for about 30 seconds.

I know that as soon as I recognize Rogue or a few others with a specific play style I walk away.

I'm just wondering if this happens to be the case with me because I'm pretty religious about RP far beyond simple game mechanics and I'm to the point where I feel like I should just powergame to get all the cool edges and stuff I want.

I rarely play characters that have a high probability of sealing kills, so I don't get lots of edges. I really like customizing my characters so, well edges are sort of like 24's with spinners to me.

30088, Play a Herald.
Posted by Splntrd on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I'm not an exceptional player, but when I play Herald, I find it's pretty typical to get some sort of personalized Immteraction at least once every three log-ins, with a higher chance during primetime. I don't even LOOK for interaction; it just happens.

This might be why I sometimes find myself discouraged when I play other things besides Herald.
30061, Who did you play?
Posted by Valkenar on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I've gotten a lot of interaction, historically, but I've played mostly inn-sitters and all-rp types, until recently.

That said, I've noticed that less. Used to be I would reliably see some random snoop rp-exp and maybe an echo, or a brief mob interaction. Now either I'm losing my touch or that just doesn't happen anymore. Even in cabals the imms don't seem to talk on the channel much. This could all be rose-colored glasses, or maybe there are fewer imms overall than there used to be, or maybe they're just burnt out on player interaction, but I dunno, it seems like it's not happening much anymore. Which is a shame, because I think that kind of thing is one of the cool differences between CF and MMO #242. But there's probably not much to be "done" about it, per se.

Can you name some past characters you particularly thought were deserving of RP but didn't get any?

I don't go out of my way to flame people, yet I am constantly flamed and it's given tacit approval by the staff.

Daevryn spoke of fairness somewhere in Abernyte's thread and how the Imms try to be even handed with how they deal with people. How about we finally put an end to this?

It's the smae handful of people who pull this highschool crap each time. Don't you think 12 years is long enough? Time to graduate and move on to college.

30077, A serious answer
Posted by Jhyrbian on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The original guy asked you to name some chars of yours that you felt were well roleplayed so we could further this discussion along, not only that but he did it in a manner that could not be construed as a flame. You totally avoided that (main) part of his post and stated that you feel all your characters are well roleplayed and ignored his simple question of naming some of your past chars.

I then pointed out the fact that you couldn't name even one of your well roleplayed characters.. (in a non-flaming manner) to which you responded with some hip internet acronym that is normally reserved by ADHD afflicted 12 year olds. For whatever reason Pro - you seem to be afflicted with some weird paranoia where you think the world is out to get you. Lucky for you though, that's just not the case because no one really cares that much about you (for or against).

Next time you ask a question and someone takes the time to respond, maybe it would go a long way towards figuring out why you're not getting IMM xp if you actually contributed to the conversation you started and were willing to actually discuss the relevant issues - not just the issues YOU think are relevant. (Which are often inane and pointless)

Cheers,

Let me get this straight. You said you were asking a serious question. You got a serious answer. And you didn't read it and instead flame.

You're a douche. Like, really.

I answered his question. I didn't take it to mean, "Name the characters you think shine."
I took it to mean which did you like? I liked them all scratching a handfull of lowbies.

Truth be told, I have put so many rangers into play I can't remember all of their names.

Cloud Savage/Mountain
Cloud Savage/Plains
Cloud Beast/Mountain-zerker

Wood Savage/Plains-Outland x2
Wood Animist/Forest-Outland
Wood Archer/Mountain
Wood Archer/Desert
Wood Archer/Mariner

Arial Archer/Desert
Arial Archer/Plains-zerker

Gnome Animist/Mariner

Svirf Animist/Cavern
Svirf Explorer/Cavern
Svirf Explorer/Mountain

Hlf-D Savage-Cavern

Human Archer-Cavern

Elf Archer/Mountain
Elf Animist/Plains-Outlander
Elf Mariner/Archer

Storm Archer/Mariner-Tribunal
Storm Archer/Mariner-Outlander
Storm Savage/Mariner x3 or x4

Felar Archer/Marsh

All at least 25 most to 35 several above 40 and a couple hero's or upper 4O's as I tend to stop ranking when I get the last skill.

So the serious answer to that question would be... My Rangers.
30091, RE: Like seriously.
Posted by jhyrb on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Do you solo level mostly? Rangers are the most anti-social class on CF because of their ability to solo level effectively. Also, longevity might be an issue - you admit yourself that most of your rangers don't hero. Imms don't tend to bother with lowbie chars that are uncaballed and not following any particular imm, regardless of their roles. IMHO, mid level rangers are a dime a dozen on CF and you would need to have a mind blowing role to stand out from that pack. None of this matters now though since you've quit CF, oh well.

Jhyrb

30136, That Battle paladin he deleted way too early was well RPed
Posted by DurNominator on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I interacted with him as Endalion and enjoyed it. Therefore I think that Pro is a solid RPer. I do agree with you on his forum behaviour, though. He is acting like a childish ####wad for some reason I don't know. I occasionally think that the game is better off with him and the forums without.

So it came across as facetious to me. Sorry about the short answer.

I really just wanted to know which characters, in the hopes that I had interacted with them and could offer some insight. Some character, though RPed well just don't really lend themselves to immteraction I've found. But I guess you have a strong feeling you don't want to reveal a couple? I'm not asking for a complete rundown, just a couple highlights... the characters you thought stood out the most in terms of RP, but didn't get any (or too little) recognition.
30116, I really don't like to mention my characters for two reasons.
Posted by Pro on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
1) People trash the thread as soon as they realize it's me.

2) I'm not the sort of person to toot my own horn.

So basicly I just say thanks/hi/such and such sucks/so and so blows, good-bye. I think that's more fair to players with active characters so they don't get a dirty feeling that they played with Pro and liked it.
30118, Oh come on

>1) People trash the thread as soon as they realize it's me.

That's possible, but really if you're playing quality characters, people aren't going to jump down your throat. People give Graatch's characters credit and he has a long history of making a pain in the ass of himself on the forums.

>2) I'm not the sort of person to toot my own horn.

So suck it up. I'm not asking you to go on and on about how great your characters are. It's not tooting your own horn to just list a few characters you thought were pretty good, given that you've already said you think some of your characters are. Specifying which ones doesn't make it boasting.

>I think that's more fair to players with
>active characters so they don't get a dirty feeling that they

Now you're just being silly. :) Mention some old characters, and if the players feel bad for liking a pro character then they are idiots anyway.

I doubt you're on a #### list or something, and my general observation has been that random/global Immteraction just isn't as common these days.

If you're getting absolutely nadda in terms of praise, echos, etc., from your patron god as an empoweree, I'd say you're doing something wrong or getting unlucky. Beyond that though, I don't really see a lot of people getting random Immteraction "out of the blue". This could be an expectations problem. If you've been playing since the 90s, you played during a time when global quests and events were more common.

Some Imms seem to care more about whether or not you're a bad ass, while others are just looking for people who they find interesting. Perhaps you're style or way of going about getting noticed doesn't jive with the interests (IC or OOC) of the people you're trying to get noticed by. Who knows.

I don't play for that kind of stuff so I never get it, but then again I don't tend to put a lot of effort into the kind of "pageantry RP" that seems to get noticed and rewarded.
30054, Immteraction is pretty rare, for non-religious characters
Posted by Daurwyn2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Or cabal leaders. (I count empowered characters as religious.)

I think that I can remember ever occasion that wasn't centered around someone else (e.g. Lorraine), and they are few and far between.

Lokrin, with Intronon, as he liked what I was doing with the mercenary band.

Masigner, with a comment or two over the cabal channel. ("You're popular today", as cabals raided me faster than I could get back from retrieving from the last cabal to raid me.)

With Victoria I also had a very cool dream from Daevryn (although I think maybe she was religious -- forget now).

Thanks that's about it. Some players will invent a reason to spaek with as many imms as possible in order to generate imm exp. It works, if that's your thing and if you have a good idea to use to do it.

Other than that, ever bit of immteraction has been down to religion. I've had imm exp for lots of different things though. Unusual pks, some rp (which really depends on whether some imm takes an interest in the character, as well as whether I actually manage to get into the role), some role writing (but rarely -- seems I suck at writing roles).

30059, I gotta say, the coolest moment in CF history for me...
Posted by TMNS_lazy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
...was dying horribly then having Muuloc jump into some random mook mob and basically telling me 'Stay in there champ, you can do it'.

I also used to love the random mobs that Lyristeon would use to interact with me when I was Thrak.

To me, that type of immortal interaction is 23469816498947687236786 times better then Immortal Char #23 Religion mode v2.4. With non-religious chars, I honestly can never feasibly think of a reason why my char would even speak to a God (you know, seeing as how they can discintegrate you with a thought and all) other than to be polite and respectful (or defiant and resolute, depending). Every time I try I kinda feel dirty, like I compromised my RP in order to satisfy my (the player's) fix.

Basically what I am saying is Imms jumping into mobs is my favorite part of the Immortal/player dynamic.
