29965, Question for Zulg/Coders
Posted by Lhydia on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
As we find little things that are different but might necessarily not be bugs, for example, healers cost a lot more for refreshing/healing, a lot of items are less valuable than they used to be, and others non-economy related stuff, should we be posting these things anywhere? Or do you guys pretty much have everything covered in so far as what is different and it just takes time to put everything back in?
I'm not rushing the situation and I'm very very happy with the amount of effort you guys have been putting in to getting the mud back up and running, I know losing all that info was really bad.
Just didn't know if this would be something helpful, like starting a list or something.
Thanks very much.

I guess you could file a bug and we'll look into it, but probably whatever you're seeing (unless it's helpfile-related) is by design. Our copy of the code was completely current, and our copy of the areas wasn't more than a week or so old.
At least, so far 100% of the prays/questions I've fielded about things that people thought changed were things that hadn't changed, but that they either hadn't noticed before or were misunderstanding now in some way.

29968, I dunno. Scepter of Seas was selling for 1 gold at least pre crash...

and it now sells for 40 copper, and healing refresh costs 450 copper whereas it was lots cheaper before.

I could have my stuff backwards here but since supply is more or less constant (npc healers have the same amount of mana yada yada) then when we have a low char count we would have a lower demand and therefore lower prices.
This post seems to indicate the opposite. Higher demand is commanding lower prices if costs scale down as pbase goes up.
just sayin, you got 100 widgets and only 3 people to buy them your likely going to get less then if you have 100 widgets and 3000 people trying to buy them.

29974, There's more to it than that

For example, ramping up volume enables you to spread the cost of certain overheads.

29972, So the 30 people that were on yesterday compared to the 30 that were on a month ago..
Posted by Lhydia on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
..drove the price of the object down over 1 gold?

29990, I'm sure level factors in...

I doubt a lvl 1 character is worth as much as a lvl 51 in these kinds of things, just to prevent someone from manipulating the system like this.
But I might be over-estimating the complexity of the system.

30002, You are correct

And a level 1 is worth jack-#### in this particular context, for exactly the reasons put forth by Mother Russia.

29976, If it was completely current.

Why is the change to the 'where' command gone?

29977, Or I misread Zulgh's explanation of it.

Never mind.
