29438, Fantasmal Question for the Masses.
Posted by SideStrider on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
If you could choose any three legacies as a combo which would you go with?
This is just a nonsense question because I'm curious of the theran populaces imput.

Felar - Empire - Polearm - Dagger - Fist of the Titan - Landslide of the Second Breath - Enigma of the Thirteen

-Autumn Harvest/Harmonious/Surrounding
Gnome village defender, hand/dagger
He'd be a real bitch to kill.

Here's a few I think are interesting:
Crashing of Waves / Space Between Heartbeats / Landslide of the Second Breath (for something like mino or giant sword)
Striking the Shadow's Footfall / Whirlwind of Steel / Riddle of Resilience (for something like elf/d-elf/arial dagger/something)
Place of the Raging River / Maelstrom of the Veils / One With Shadows (really obnoxious for stealth characters to deal with and especially KO)

29456, Space for low dex?

Interesting. I would've expected space to be nearly useless for low dex races because the helpful repeatedly emphasizes speed.

Thus mino, which has a non-terrible dex and high wisdom.

29464, Personally, I was always partial to this. (I have dreams!)

Dwarf Mace/Axe Berserker.
Soul/Fires/Cry.
Throw on your tattoo for ####s and giggles and voila!
Basically, you have like 1000 hp to soak up hits while you land boneshatter or whirl or weaponbreak or ####, even pincer.
Then, once you hit around 500 hp for Fires to kick in, you call blood (or warcry if you don't have the head) then warcry for drum or pincer or disembowel loving.
Gearing would be towards -Svs and + dam with a bit of +str +dex.

Tangent: I think Soul is really overrated. It's perenially one of the most popular legacies, and I can't imagine ever picking it.
Defensively speaking, gates seems like about as good of a bet for stretching out the last bit of HP, and Riddle isn't a bad pick just to make sure that you don't get out-maledicted into uselessness (thirst helps there, but... )
|
29467, Well, I had considered swapping Gates for Soul.
Posted by TMNS_lazy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
But the utility of having Fires start working about 200 hp sooner made me rethink that.
And Riddle is mitigated by Thirst + Cry of Thunder stats. I mean, yeah, Riddle definitely works, but I think Cry gives you an extra boost to your already strong offense.
PS I kinda agree with you about Soul, but there are certain builds it is perfect for. IE Nexus warrior (what mage doesn't like an extra 100 hp to their bond!). Mostly it comes down to, I'm not positive I can get all the gear I need for the char to be successful, so instead of trying to get the perfect pieces, I take Soul and then don't worry about gearing for Health at all.
But yes, I see your point.

On one hand, I agree with you and would choose landslide over soul if given similar circumstances. Unfortunately, when you hit lvl 44, have few group options and several airforms flying around, soul can be too tempting. On the other hand, you die alot less than most people so keeping extra +200 hp warrior gear would be easier for you :P and I also had a truckload of fights end like this where soul saved the day:

29466, What's really sad is that I could have had a duergar...
Posted by TMNS_lazy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
dagger/axe defender with three legacies. Got Riddle for the Role Contest at 36 and deleted at 40.
I was probably going to take Calming (I had two resist magic edges, plus I was a village duergar) and probably Cry (extra -svs from warcry + haste + dam + stats).
I hate you broke Komodo rake :(

29469, Replace axe with flail, and I agree
Posted by _Magus_2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I'd rather have some scary kill sealing ability along with big damage ability like boneshatter/drum. Hell, even a feinting backhand is cool.
Taking axe and mace together just seems a little too far on the redundant side.

I got to reading the other posts, and thought you had gates in place of soul. I wouldn't take soul of the mountain either. I won't take legacies that gear can cover.
|
29471, I gotta say, I mostly agree with flail over axe.
Posted by TMNS_lazy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I just love axes ;)

29454, I have some interesting ideas. The last one however is a nasty 2 legacy pick.
Posted by Arrna on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Elf STFS/Soul/flow of shadows
Drow STFS/Soul/flow of shadows EMPIRE
Gnome STFS/Harvest/Dance (Or perhaps HPM? Not sure about exotics for gnomes...)
Arial Dance/Flow of shadows/Soul
Dwarf Gates/Soul/Fires
Duergar Forsaken/Riddle/Calming berserker or scout
Any giant landslide/incarnadine/gates POLEARM
Any giant landslide/incarnadine/surrounding POLEARM
Chosing 3 legacys would be AWESOME and make for a real super warrior. As Arrna I was lucky enough to get an awesome third legacy (Surrounding) which just kicked ass for quite a few of the fights I were in.
There are a bunch of other combos I'd love to try as well. But for lagging my all time favorite would be:
any giant polearm (a certain lag progging polearm) landslide/incarnadine This would really do for some awesome lagging!

29458, ALways considered
Posted by CraftedD on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Dagger/pole elf striking/incarnadine/landslide. I had striking and landslide with ceyraia. But add in incarnadine landing more hits with STSF help and after dagger meldeiction(which it will help you with too).
Added benefit. Insects.

Posted by _Magus_2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Not to mention, there is a polearm that lags and incarnadine with a polearm lags.
Put that polearm and incarnadine on a minotaur with goring horns and landslide, with war master powers, and you'd have some serious lagging capability.

Some combos I would try
Offense: Chilling/Cry/Trapping
Defense: Soul/Gates/Fires
