27808, Wand location

Amber sleek carrier by non-tracking mob underwater, impossible to kill with shapeshifter on hero and no water/amphibian form.

By design?

Not impossible and yes.

I thought I had checked everywhere under water :(.

PS Explore people!!! I found like four/five wands I had never ever seen even in logs with corpses and #### like that.

Really? But then, most of the ones I can think of underwater are areas you wouldn't check because they were too conspicuous or easy to get to or low-level-accessable, maybe.
27814, I honestly suggest everyone roll a water shifter once.

There's #### underwater that is really nice. Progging gear, wands, gold, preps etc. In some pretty odd places too.

Still haven't found the Ship's Graveyard yet though :( And I really searched (well, for 2-3 hrs at least).

If it makes you feel any better, I couldn't find it myself until about a year ago.

I did that with my first hero, a terrible storm warrior that I learned how to play the game with. I went around exploring all the underwater areas I could find, and I came across lots of things people had no clue about.

When I found the ship graveyard then some of the sutff I pulled from it most people had never seen or heard of. Now I think it's location is not too secret anymore, most characters can probably show you where it is pretty quickly or just tell you how to access it. And once you know, its fairly simple.
27817, Possible to get alone? n/t

d
27818, I'm pretty sure that one is
Posted by Daevryn on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Although that being said, there certainly are sleek locations that some characters probably can't get alone.

If there were no way to get a second sleek location for that type, and sleek wands were the only choice for aura/barrier/shield instead of one choice among dozens, I might regard that as something of concern, but that's not the case.
27819, To be fair..

When the new sleek system came out, you said you would be monitoring it to make sure certain locations weren't excessively easy or hard for specific classes, and if they were, you might adjust it so they couldn't get them.

Considering this location (assuming it's the one I'm thinking of) is practically impossible for 90% of shapeshifters (really.. how much preps/wands would it take to beat that mob when out of form?) to get while alone, and considering it's just an AURA wand rather than barrier.. it might be worth considering making shifters not able to have that particular location.

After all, shouldn't any given location be roughly the same difficulty for each class? As it is, a muter or invoker would have a relatively easy time there, while the shifter would struggle. A LOT.
27820, I've fought the mob in question
Posted by _Magus_ on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
As an out-of-form shapeshifter.

I used scales of the dragon and stone skin, along with various resistances.

For offense, I used horns of the bull, offensive wands, a staff and haste. If I had about 250 more hps, I would've been able to finish the fight in one go. But I didn't want to let my hp's get too low. So I fled, slowed myself, rested two hours, slept two hours, and finished the job.

Sadly, there was nothing there.

Did it seem like a lot of effort? Not for me really, because that is what I expect when I am trying to acquire aura/shield/barrier.

Would it be a lot of effort for someone who didn't utilize the things that I did? Probably.
27821, Let me put it another way.

Is that mob significantly harder as a non-water/amphibious shapeshifter, than it is as an invoker or transmuter?
I think the answer is obviously yes.

Is that mob significantly harder for a non-water/ambphibious shapeshifter than the average aura location?
If the answer to THAT question is "no", then obviously that location is too easy for OTHER mages. If the answer is "yes", then it's too difficult by comparison for shapeshifters.

Remember, the idea is to make it so that there are not "good" and "bad" wand locations. They should all be relatively the same degree of difficulty.

I kind of disagree here. If you're an invoker, and your wand is on an invoker mob, you have advantages by being able to shield and such. It's not very different.
27810, Yup.

More fun when you're a race with hydrophobia - great location design.
