Without stepping out of the shadows? Particularly, say, food from a container I'm holding?
I really want to be able to get out my lunch in the shadows.

Pretty sure no. Covert has nothing to do with that. It just means when you open a door that other people on either side of it have a chance to not "hear" it opening.
