So, when you have Ehren Soul, do you still get penalized for outnumbering your opponent during raid situations as well? For instance, if the ONLY time you EVER outnumber your opponent is during raids, is that going to be enough for the edge to start penalizing you?

When you do outnumber your opponents, do the penalties continue to build the more times you outnumber your foe, or do you get penalized the same each time?

Can outnumbering your foe repeatedly with Ehren Soul only (not Ehren Lord) (like during raids) make is so this edge no longer benefits you, or doesn't benefit you as well any more?

Does fighting mobs count? Grouping to level doesn't hurt you, does it? Or to explore? If no pvp?

Here's the long answer to all these questions.

There are (at least) two forms of anti-gang code:

1) You miss using a skill/spell/etc. in combat with a message along the lines of, amidst the battle's chaos you can't find an opening to do blah.

This is only concerned with PCs.

2) Some skills (e.g. bash) also work less well in general if your target is being mobbed. Here, mobs count for something -- bash is less reliable on someone already fighting five zombies.

When I said "yes, the Ehren edges can care about mobs" I'm talking about #2 here -- Ehren Soul will make it harder to bash the guy fighting five zombies than if you didn't have the edge. (It also has some effect on #1, but there mobs don't count.) Conversely, it'll make it harder to bash you as the guy fighting five zombies if you have it.

Thanks for that. I'm more talking about that cumulative effect you mentioned though. I'm right when I think that grouping to fight a mob, like leveling, doesn't affect your "ehren" rating aren't I? It's only if you start pk'ing with bad odds that you start moving down that slide for purposes of the edges isn't it?

Correct.

Yup.

Is it based off your character's current gank-o-meter rating, or does it trigger off the circumstances of an individual PK encounter?

That is to say if my character has an extremely low gank-o-meter (say, 1.20), but happens to find himself in a 6-on-1 gang, are his skills all going to miss due to Ehren Soul working "in reverse"?

Honestly, that's why I never took it with either of my past two characters. I could never convince myself that it wouldn't eventually end up screwing me somehow.

Some of both.

I wouldn't say all, but there'd be significant penalties.

Huh.

So, given the opportunity cost in spent edge points, would you ever take Ehren Soul as a caballed character who "usually" fights solo outside raid/retrieval situations?

Seems like it would generally only be worth it unless you were going to take Ehren Lord as well, i.e. if you were a bard, invoker or sword spec.
