24591, Ever considered making getting defiance unpickable?

Hasnt seemed to be that hard for any paladin wanting defiance to find a thief capable to pick locks. Just curious why it is as it is.

and I have been a part of all of 4 attempts to get defiance without a thief, none of them successful. When was the last time defiance was taken without lockpick? Does it happen often?
24631, I dont see that as a problem. Kinda like killing tiamat. ntnt

Bringing more people isn't really the answer to get defiance, especially if the paladin is willing to eat a death.

I got it three times without a thief with Sarien, and with another paladin I retrieved it at least as many times (Since it was pre-thief changes). Getting defiance the traditional way is not hard at all (if you know how).

I have personally watched Paladins virtually beg for me to go down with them to pick the lock. Then when we get down there, watch them die, and get other lightwalkers killed in numbers, sometimes repeatedly. Then they swear they're never going to crave that sword again. A week later that same paladin is wanting to go back. I think the apparent "easiness" of getting leads more lightwalkers to their deaths than would be the case if everyone knew it was going to be incredibly challenging.

24592, As someone that benefited from that in the past, I agree..

It's pretty obvious that the weapon was designed to be extremely hard to get, and easy to lose. That's the way it should be. Having someone pick the lock is pretty lame and completely ignored how it was originally intended to be.

But what do I know? When I got Defiance (the one and only time) it was with Baer picking the lock, and Twist leading the way. Go figure.
