24137, Buying skills: one more alternative to boring spam
Posted by Dervish on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I think we all know and we all can agree on two things:
1. Some classes require lots of spam
2. Spam is generally boring thing

Thats why I propose to make it possible to buy additional training from guildmaster as another option. Noone says it should be cheap. Lets say 1% costs (the percentage after training) + char_lvl - 51.

So if 30 lvl warrior wants to increase his dodge from 89 to 90% it will cost him 90 + 30 - 51 = 71 gold. For just that 1%. Or some time of spamming combat.

While spam stills to be the main way of improvement adding one more option will add some more variety and therefore fun. You spam skill using some, you spam money getting some. Anyway more interesting than spam only.

Thoughts?

This just means you spend boring time gathering gold, instead of boring time spamming your skills.
24148, Exactly.

But as for me its easier and less tedious to spent 2 hours gathering gold and 2 hours spamming than 3.5 hours of just spamming.

I thought thats true for others as well.

24141, You think its simpler to get 70 gold than improve 1% of dodge for midbie char? nt

24142, That's not what I said

I said that while gold is dead simple to amass, there won't be any buying of skills.

To some gathering 70 gold might actually be faster than trying to tank to get that next percentage in dodge. To others it's not going to be.
24143, Well then make it more expensive?

Or make it different for different skills or something.

My point was not to give faster and easier way to practice but give just the alternate way even if its a bit harder/longer.

No?

In some cases, yes. Heck, midbie thieves donate 1000+ gold to their thieves' guilds all the time -- imagine how much money they'd put together for something that mattered more as, say, dodge and blackjack skill percentages would for most of them.

Even if I liked this idea, who wants to spend the time to figure out what'd be reasonable for each of hundreds of skills? I wouldn't want to.

Wish I knew what those thieves know. :(
