23386, Does the arcane path really equal to a mage?

I mean with arcane lore being the first skill you get, would you be able to use scrolls that normal thieves wouldn't? Scrolls that only a student of the arcane could use? And if no, why not?

Thieves have a higher failure rate at using scrolls than those of mages. Arcane lore basically takes that penalty away, I believe is what it's meaning. Nothing more, nothing less.
Speaking of Arcane path, has anyone taken it up to hypnotize? How is the skill? Have a log of it working?
I admit that I've been playing thieves since the mini-revamp instead of my usual ranger garbage, and it's fun. May try an arcane path thief next.

From what I gather, it just makes it so your mystic thief doesn't ~fail~ reciting scrolls as much as a normal thief would.
I'm more curious if it lets you somehow cast the spell contained in the scroll at a higher level than a normal thief. Like spellcraft.

23388, I was under the impression that thieves no longer get the scrolls skill, this is the replacement, no? nt

Scrolls is the first skill in the mystic path. Arcane lore is the second. Arcane lore makes it so you can recite scrolls "better".
