22410, vindicator a thing of the past?
Posted by poisonmaster on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I'm just wondering how with most tribunal leaders able to take guards around, how vindicators are separated from tribunal sans "BLOODY FREAKIN SHACKLES MAN!! tm" <--- lol
no but seriously, other than bloody shackles what's the point, really? you can't mark people, you can only hunt them, which means if you get attacked that's your problem. you basically become an imperial in the cities. You have your guards but yeah so does the provost, and now you have an ever HUGER target on your head, because you're Vindicator. I'm just wondering in the way of powers what separates Vindicator from anyone else in tribunal.

Well, for one they're released from the burden of having to sit around town and flag people. I've never played one, but I'm guessing they don't spend as much time interviewing people and doing general cabal administration.

If you get attacked in town, my understanding is that you can kill the guy who attacked you, even if it means doing stuff that would get a non-Vindicator flagged. Like, re-engaging if the guy who attacked you flees. Maybe I'm mistaken about that. If so, hopefully someone will correct me.

When compared to provost, Vindicators get bloody shackles and Vindicator's insignia.
When compared to a normal Magistrate, Vindicators get bloody shackles, vindicator's insignia, blood trail and vindicator's network. But, unlike a Magistrate, they aren't stuck in town.
Also, if Kastellyn's vignette on the front page is any indication, Vindicator's are afforded some autonomy from the normal cabal leadership. In his story, a Vindicator tells the Provost Magistrate to "Shut up" without repercussion.

Any Tribunal imms care to comment on whether the above two statements are accurate?

I take some liberties with the stories to make them more interesting. I can't comment on Trib having not played one in forever, so I'm not sure how Vindicators fit in regarding the Trib chain of command.
