22318, Immortals
Posted by Eshval on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM

For those of you who follow these ramblings, I wanted to just take a a bit of space to note that the often abused, praised, decried, tired, excited and yet still dedicated immortals of CarrionFields remain unheralded by the masses...for the most part. While I am one of these immortals, I do not take credit for those who keep the world running. These folks work long hours, as best they are able, and provide the structure for others' enjoyment. Others of the staff, interact with the players and are more often than not, those heavenly bodies often attributed to players experiencing a good quality of experiences and interaction.

Just my way of saying thanks for the magic.

22336, Yes, we appreciate the efforts of the staff (txt)

And yes, I realize that my post that was supplanted by this call for love was going to be seen as a troll, for I do have a propensity for charging at giants where others see windmills. I did the same when I performed the pre-dex analysis of warrior builds that got publicly poo-pooed for dissing Greeting, and when I questioned how critical mass APs could possibly be balanced, and I was told candidly that at the high end, they are not nor are they supposed to be because their life when young is so damned hard. It's all good--I just wanted it said that it was an intentional part of game design.

The truth is I like most of what I see in the longterm CF players and staff, and of course the game itself. I am awed by the expertise of the staff in their respective areas, and in my own way I see my annoying questions as a feeble means of contributing to an already great game.

All this time I thought I was praying to real gods, and now you tell me they are administrators and programmers?

It's like finding out Santa isn't real all over again!

Being serious a moment, I do appreciate what the imms do. One of the things I most value, actually, is if I pray about something I'm a bit confused by, some imm will normally make the effort to get back to me about it. In this past, I don't think many could be bothered (or maybe we just have more European imms that share my playing hours?).
22329, We love you all! <3 Even you, Eshval.

Zephon crosses his fingers and chants:
"Please don't bite me.
Please don't plague me.
Please don't let her minions drag me away again."

Zephon was afraid of you.

22332, I loved your evil RP
Posted by Zephon on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Hopefully you find a cool idea to get back into it.
I always liked to idea of the court and vampires.
I just suck at evil RP. I'm just too nice a person. :(
I made a follower at one point, but I sucked at necromancers and evil RP.
Maybe, I'll get better at it some day.
22333, Well... I'd just love to...

I went out to try to find quotes relating to this, because I love quotes, so here some are. I chose some god quotes because it relates (in the whole creator of the world sense), quotes on respect, work, and some others. Hopefully you imps get what I am saying with them.

"That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right, than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong."

-Because the imps seem to embody this philosophy, unlike most other game staff.-

"Respect a man, he will do the more."

"If God lived on earth, people would break his windows."

"Sometimes it seems like God is difficult to find and impossibly far away. We get so caught up in our small daily duties and irritations that they become the only things that we can focus on. What we forget is that God's love and beauty are all around us, every day, if only we would take the time to look up and see them."

-A little lovey dovey, but the closest thing I could find to saying "people get too caught up in themselves to be thankful for the world."-

"It has been my experience that one cannot, in any shape or form, depend on human relations for lasting reward. It is only work that truly satisfies."

"Never continue in a job you don't enjoy. If you're happy in what you're doing, you'll like yourself, you'll have inner peace. And if you have that, along with physical health, you will have had more success than you could possibly have imagined."

"My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind."

"Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do."

"Against criticism a man can neither protest nor defend himself; he must act in spite of it, and then it will gradually yield to him."

22331, My take

As a personal note, I would enjoy seeing the implementation of the saying "Those whom the gods love die young" from Trophonios in the Greek myths.

Its relevance to my post is located at Eshval\'s Blog-thing - Otherwise you can look it up!

As much as we nitpick the balance and more with CF, there's always the simple fact that it's a great game that a lot of us have been playing for a very long time (too damn long if you ask me).

Thanks :)
