21927, Anyone had Calming the Tempest?

Nep said that it "changes the way you interact with magic."

Can said Nep comment anymore on this subject?

Is this one worth checking out?

I don't remember all of the context there. It's a hazard in being so quoteable. :)

Essentially:

Calming the Tempest will significantly increase your chances of making most saving throws (might only be vs. spell, I forget). Obviously this is a big help if you're only slightly or moderately geared for save, but further: if you're geared for a lot of save, your chances of making a save improve substantially beyond what any other character can achieve. It's an excellent legacy for fighting anyone who offensively casts/communes/calls/etc.
21938, YAHTZEE! Thanks for that input!

And just because someone said it didn't work on Dullameh, are you confident this legacy is working accordingly?

P.S I'm on a posting roll!!! Somehow the CF bug has bitten me. :)
21941, I think it was/is just that liches are very difficult to save againt.

Not quite a Lich, but a level 51 undead nevertheless. What you're seeing here are moderate saves on top of Calming The Tempest.
21942, what you are running into....

is that to a large extent, necros are balanced to be kinda competative at 47.

So add in spellcraft and 4 more lvl's...and alot more hp...and alot of resistances...

and their spells are going to be alot harder to save against, coupled with the fact that they will live longer and be able to cast more times to get the one that lands.

Hey, does spellbane success rate key off save vs. spell?
21940, All my experience says yes. (smtxt)

And also that was Jinroh/Gre always told me.
21936, Can a coding imm chime in on this one? Thanks! n/t

nt
21929, My opinion has always been it's like reverse spellcraft
Posted by Theerkla on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Because Dullameh had no problem sleeping or spelling me up, but ap's couldn't land a damn thing as long as I geared for moderately decent spell saves.
21930, Did you maybe check your wis stat instead of int? Logic within:

From HELP 225(WISDOM)

Determines how many practices you gain per level. Certain races
cannot become very wise, but ones who can benefit from doing so.
Also affects mana gain per level to a small degree. Aids in
learning more from skill bonuses when reaching a new level.
***Wisdom also exerts a small effect on most saving throws.***

Generally whenever I read helpfiles in CF 'willpower' gets equated to 'wisdom'.

But this is as good a guess as any, this 'small effect' gets changed from INT to WIS with some appropriate boost.

Imms might be willing to tell me how close I am on that.
