21115, An elite thief skill idea
Posted by laxman on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I have been getting random ideas of late and thought I might put a few of them out there. These could be skills available only to elites of the various guilds and would be seperate from thief points.
Galadon guild: **Thieves network** Masters of the more subtle arts of thievery elites of the galadon guild have developed intricate networks of thieves which can be used to locate items of value. Within major cities an Elite thief can learn about what items of value are being carried within the city and for a price even send out scouts to locate more remote items.
--functionaly would work like locate object but repot limited items perhaps above a certain level carried by pc's and mobs within the city, would only work in the major cities and best in galadon. Can also be used like locate object to find notable objects, maybe only to locate powerful limited items or just legendary items and would cost a fair amount of copper to use.
Blackclaw guild: **Trap Shield** The elite of the blackclaw trappers guild have learned even to rig small traps to their shields. In combat when the shield is struck the traps are triggered.
--functionally a thief could set burst traps on their shield which would work but at a significant level penalty. not all traps would work and traps are likely to hit the thief themselves from time to time especially if the trap is explosive. This can even destroy the shield.
Dagdan Guild **Hire Thug** The elite thugs of the dagdan guild can use their reputation to purchase the talents of other guild members.
--Buy a merc that is paid by the day. The merc should be able to hide with the thief and in combat could use some thug skills, the thugs might loot their masters if they die before the hired thug.
Hamsah Guild ???
maybe something where elites have less of a chance of knocking off bindings while fighting opponents one on one
Voralia guild ???
perhaps some form of poisoning ones own armor so that it fires in close circumstances such as getting bashed, thrown, savage feed on.

To start off, I've always been a fan of bonuses to being an elite guild member, but since all you really have to do is devote a little time, I don't know how awe-inspiring I'd want them to be. I do like the Galadon Guild idea as it's really what they do. The Dagdan guild as well, given that you can only have one merc anyways, why not give them some random "paid" mercs.
On a side note, I wonder how hard it would be set up possibly thief edges such that you have to be an elite to get the edge. That I could see having some nastier ones perhaps, given you can up the edge cost. Or you could have edges specifically for non-guilded thieves, too, maybe (I really like the idea of edges for non-guilded thieves, or maybe specifically the less-popular guilds).
Anyways, I'm done rambling!
