I'm a big fan of quests. They do a lot to bring the mud to life. The make the mud more interactive. They are an achievement beyond the mere collection of shinies. The can be challenging, interesting, and ultimately, more rewarding.

My current char is trying to solve as many as possible. The quest command is a nice addition. I have some additional comments for the staff.

- Removed/Incomplete quests -

There are a lot of items which have no obvious purpose. When I come across these my assumption is that they are intended to be part of a quest. But, there are four possibilities for any such item, they are part of a current quest, the quest they are part of has been removed, the quest they were intended for was never completed or they are just useless chotsky. It can be a little discouraging for us mortals.

It would be nice if references to dead quests were removed. This may be a huge task, maybe not. I suspect it would take far less time than players waste investigating dead ends.

- Rumors -

Every area has a backstory, and many look like there is some problem to be solved. But, it's really tough to know when there is something to do. Some games have NPCs speak to you about things PCs can do. "Rumor has it, John the blacksmith, is looking for help." "My child is missing! Help me find him!" "An evil has befallen the hills, if only someone could help me figure out why!" It could be automatic, or it could a typed command. "rumor simon" "You ask Simon if he's heard any rumors." Nobody wants to be spoonfed, but as a player, the uncertainty is frustrating. I think something like this is necessary.

- Quest Economy -

I know a big problem in the past has been OOC channels sharing quest details. I suggest an economy system like the one used for wands. If everyone starts doing a quest, the rewards get nerfed automatically.

You can use the typo command if you find a quest that you think is broken. If I don't know for sure, I'll ask the coders to look into it. We've found and fixed (I think) three by this method.
