20600, Emperor Powers
Posted by PSTYX on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Without seeming like too much of a whiner (I've always hated this ability and I just remembered why, heh), why exactly can the Emperor see EVERYBODY no matter if they're hidden or anything. I mean I know it's the cabal leader and all but what makes the emperor so special as opposed to everybody else? I think even the Shadow Lord as a thief can't see assassin in the wilderness, so what's up with that?

Personally I think the power would be better balanced (it's a bit too powerful now) if it worked somewhat like danger sense, i.e. it would only show:
Someone Somewhere nearby Someone2 Somewhere nearby
This would still be very useful information in any situation.

20615, This is nearly how it does work. It's not just 'detect all'. nt

20617, I think he means...

the fact that it tells you exactly what room they're in as opposed to the fact that someone is in the area.

20602, yea I just realized. Stupid me.

haha yea I just had a dialogue with Eoria about it. Damn I'm pissed. She's quick on the trigger with her songs, too.

20603, You need to use sneak and stop fumbling around in the room you're in.
Posted by Scrimbul on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
It goes like this.
vis hide;n;str Eoria
or vis hide;n;assassinate Eoria
vis hide;n;tiger Eoria
The idea is not to step out of the shadows and alert her. Also for assassins, using detect hidden and heightened awareness have echoes inside the room that thieves don't. But for the most part, sneak doesn't disappear like hide does, so you can be completely visible and still sneak into the room with her if she's standing still. If she's coming after you directly it's your chance to spam of course rather than curse your slow reflexes.
To be fair none of these alone will give you a signifigant advantage, but she can't be 'quick on the trigger' if you don't 'step out of the shadows' when the rooms are otherwise similarly named. Songs can't be spammed, it's one of the bards many weaknesses that they pay for their versatility with. Empire, Outlander and Village just happen to complement bards extremely well, better than most cabal powers complement other classes. 20604, Umm

Edit: Removed misread
The "steps out of the shadows" is shown in the room that you leave, not in the room that you enter (if you're an assassin walking around the wilderness). So removing hide before you enter doesn't really serve you any purpose..
Hmm, now I wonder if emperor where takes away stalk counters.. and if you can even stalk them in the first place. Anybody know?

It might if he's trying to mark.

20609, You can stalk them
Posted by PSTYX on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
In my experience with past assassin, though, if they hit where enough, it eventually lowers your "stalk counter". I've stalked a previous Emperor where I didn't come near where they were for them to see me in the same room and got the "you begin to stalk" echo. I don't know if that's changed or not, though, because while i was stalking the current Emperor my second attempt got a "continue". I think that's the way it should be, considering you have to assassinate them trib style anyway.

>for assassins, using detect hidden and heightened awareness >have echoes inside the room that thieves don't.
You sure about that? I've traveled with a lot of assassins, and I've never noticed room echoes for these.

20607, Park it in an assassin's guild sometime. The guildguard or guildmaster without fail spam these skills. nt

20608, MISINFO GALORE!
Posted by PSTYX on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
First off... heightened awareness and detect hidden don't have echoes. What you're confused with right now is endure, which indeed does have an echo. It's one of the ONLY assassin skills that has an echo.
You step out of the shadows from the room you left. Ala, you step out of the shadows on eastern when you go to the grove. That's why people waylaying you in the wilderness have to spam, because they don't see an echo.
Also, what good will it do stepping out of the shadows IF SHE CAN SEE YOU WHILE YOU'RE HIDDEN ANYWAY. Stepping out of the shadows give you NO advantage whatsoever. If anything, a disadvantage, because now other people can see you as well.
As well... why the hell would you vis hide in order to assassinate?
I miss the entire point of this post... sorry...
