18718, bind elemental

Here is the helpfile for 'bind elemental': Use of this spell allows the caster to gain the aid of a Water, Earth, Fire or Air Elemental. The Elemental will follow the caster, aiding them in combat, defending them if attacked. If the binding fails, the Elemental will become enraged and attack the caster. Additional mana may be poured into the binding to increase its effectiveness.
When a conjurer binds an angry elemental there is a chance that it will turn on the conjurer. The helpfile for 'bind elemental' is incorrect in that it clearly states that if bound the caster WILL gain the aid of the elemental. This is not true in every case. The last sentence about additional mana and effectiveness is not at all a clear indication that a bound elemental may attack. I thought for a long time that it meant the binding would last longer, or that I should add mana when binding a very STRONG elemental that I had conjured.
One sentence needs to be added, like this: Even when bound an angry elemental may turn on the conjurer.
You will lessen the confusion for conjurers and the MASSIVE frustration at the being slain. Thank you, Mocha

18729, THis is the point of my post:

I had a conjurer, rank 22. I conjured a fire elemental. It was angry when it came and only the third attempt to bind it worked. I walked about 12 room and it attacked.
I fled and redrew a celestial circle. I tried to bind it again, I was told that the binding was still in effect. I re-read the help file on bind elemental - according to it the elemental SHOULD be aiding me. It seemed like a bug to me but an Immortal I spoke with said that it was not a bug - that angry elementals, EVEN WHEN BOUND, might attack.
Confusion.
The help file was clear that I would get the aid. I waited for the conjure elemental to wear off (in the mean time I was creating new celestial circles). When 'conjure elemental' finally did wear off, I was able to re-cast 'bind elemental'. I put more mana into the spell. It worked. I walked three steps and was attacked and slain (being out of mana to create another celestial circle).
FRUSTRATION.

; however, even tightly bound elementals have been known to turn on their masters.
can now be found as last sentence.

My experience is that you are indeed correct about the last sentence being wrong. Generally I never poured extra mana into a binding of an elemental even though it might be a good idea to do it if you are messing with devils and demons, especially as a non evil. They can chew through a circle pretty fast.
Also if you let say conjure an elemental at hero and put 300-400 mana into it. If you get one that is above perfect match, like razor, he will in my experience pretty much always disappear before binding has run out. Even if aggressive. However if you pour that much mana into the elemental and it turns out to be a perfect match that is usually a key that it will stay a long ass time. So those you dismiss when the binding is about to run out if they were aggressive (just draw a circle first).
It seems like while leveling this is not completely true so even if you get a razor you might want to dismiss it before the binding will run out. After a while you will get a pretty good feeling for that.
Also angels/archons etc require much more mana to get real juicy ones.
