17656, Ehren Honor
Posted by kjbrough on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Now that we have edges like Ehren Soul and Ehren Lord, perhaps some of us newbs need some Ehren education.
For instance, can a goodie conjurer with servitors be considered honorable even if they use archons and elementals? What does "honor" mean in this case? What level of servitor/mob help is honorable?

When Balgrimnr(I) was handling the Ehren Guard deal, numbers were not the gauge for Honor. If you were an honorbound warrior, and you and a paladin joined forces to try to take down, say, Zorszaul, there's no way I'd smack you for it, because that wasn't truly a "gang" - it was highly likely you'd both still die (think of any fantasy/sci fi book - it's almost never "one guy" that takes down the head evil badguy...it's usually a group of people, and there has to be huge amounts of planning, and everything needs to go off without a hitch, to even have a hope of succeeding).
That being said, *in general* if two guys attack one guy, yeah that's really not very honorable.
To me, servitors/zombies/etc. don't factor in as extra help, as they are just "ways to fight". Nobody can reasonably expect a conjurer to fight a ranger, for instance, with magic missile.

What I would give for you to bring that back. I loved playing honorbound *so* much.
Edit: This is also me asking if maybe just maybe that would ever happen in any form or fashion.

Roll one now. Start praying for the Ehren Lord.
There is absolutely no reason why Twist can't reprise the role from behind the scenes - if you're a really good honor player. It saves him having to create an entire new immpersonation and means you get a Balgriminr char!
Yeah, the interaction might be a bit second-hand in some ways. Maybe you won't get the Tat until 200 hours of sweat grinding honor. And if they ever bring back force-duel, I'd cry. But you get the character and Twist is given the option of playing along with it and handing out honorary honors... for honor. Yeah.

17696, I did that

somewhat already. Not directed directly at Balg/twist and ended up more focused towards cador. This isn't a standard "roll it up and give it a go and maybe it'll happen!" kind of role. Not for me anyway, I put a lot of planning and effort into the role and the character and to be honest, I don't think I have it in me to risk that much energy/effort of doing honorbound again on a chance. I was the first time just because I wanted to so badly I didn't care. 400+ hours into I started running out of gas without having what I felt like was a dedicated imm since I knew cador wasn't really around. Taera was the only other character that did the honorbound bit at the time and she was a grurk priest. Compare the imm comments. She had a dedicated imm and had the stability of knowing when she would get her first ranking bonus. I didn't know when or if I was going to get one (I figured I would). However, she also got the 2nd ranking bonus and that never happened for me. I think if there had been an actual imm handling sphere honor with an honorbound religion it would have went more smoothly and maybe I wouldn't have burned out (I do regret deleting still even).
So in my opinion this isn't a standard role choice, you give up a whole lot more than anyone else and you are putting out a lot more effort than anyone else and its not something to do just on a whim. You have to really be ready to put out.
And don't sweat FD so much, remember you can always turn it against the person who has it.
Also, I'm not trying to make someone on the staff feel obligated or pressured into filling a role they don't want to. I'd love for him to pick it back up but at the same time, I'm not trying to burn anyone out or whatever.

Might have caught Twist, might have been too early. Can't remember.
You can always go round two! That was an awesome character.

Thanks for the compliment. However, there wont' be a round two until I see someone on the wizlist with "honor" listed under their name.
