Almost two years later, and has it achieved the desired affect? Are you, the imms, generally happy with it (recognizing that there is probably no perfect solution)?

17416, I think its much better.

There was a character I rolled who would be ganked down consistantly, with odds of usually 3+ on one. They would take a summoner, a basher, and someone to do damage, then just camp somewhere they knew I had to go and taunt. They would camp like this in a way that put outlanders to shame (and hell, they're bad). How you persuade 6+ people that they should sit with you in one place for a real time twenty minutes waiting for someone to pass by, I don't know. But it did happen. Mostly because they were too scared to raid with only one/two defenders, despite huge odds. They insisted we had to be ganked before they even thought of hitting the outer.

I think ganging has come some way. I sometimes try to strike out alone from a larger group so that I can more effectively fight someone. There are times you will still want a large group and other times it hinders far more than helps. Anyone who hasn't figured this out, can't find enough fools to make the above gank squad :) That's enough for me.
