Can somebody please change the delay of retreat to 2 ticks before and 0 after. I know I've brought this up before but retreating from a pk is (almost) totally useless right now with delay 1 retreat delay 1. Your opponent can always engage again. It would be so much better and usefull IMHO for retreat to be changed.

Thank you once again.

Asty.

I think you're just not looking at retreat necessarily the way the skill was intended. It's great vs mobs or in cabal raids where a lot of people are fighting, but you're right that it's pretty shabby when it comes to one vs one pk. I think it's supposed to be that way though.
15149, I'm pretty sure...

that along time ago it use to be delayed 2 then retreat. But somebody wanted it change it to 1 and 1 so the immortals did. However now with people using chase triggers, knowing which direction you are going to flee in so that you can imput the next direction being sure, having the 2 delay first makes more sense.

Retreat having two options, hasty and planned. Hasty retreat would be one round before, one round after, planned retreat being two rounds before, no rounds after. You could switch the tactic by typing retreat with argument planned/hasty.

I was under impression that it's been both 1 before 1 after and 2 before 0 after in the past, so having both ways could work too if people prefer having it different ways. Yhorian's idea could still work, though, removing the second round.

Retreat doesn't really help with general escape... flee/quaff will be faster. There are definitely situations where picking your direction is handy. If I'm in the jade mountains and not 100% sure of where I am, retreat will be the option I'm going for. Or at the fortress inner, for example, where 2/3 of the exits are dead ends. It's also useful for leading someone in a slightly more subtle way than just driving them. I think the success rate is higher than drive too (but I'm not totally sure on that). I agree that it's not an amazingly useful skill when you consider how often it's useful, but I wouldn't say it's almost totally useless. It's just a very situational skill.

That said, I like Ginga's legacy idea.

Make outcry of steel remove the second round of lag from it. Pick said legacy, for this advantage in PK.

I think it'd be cool if Vanguards did this too because it always felt short on loving for me, but I guess that's just me.
