14867, Resisting the NEW urge...
Posted by Tac on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
So how am I supposed to resist the urge to dump my current character and play a new nexite? I mean seriously. I dumped my last character for a ranger (which should be autodeleted by now). Besides the fact that Nexus was like my favorite cabal ever... And now even though I am enjoying my current character, and already have my next rolled... I'm seriously pondering dumping them both in favor of a nexite.
Playing a ranger when there were (are?) 4926 other rangers sucked bad enough, but playing nexus right now would be even worse... I don't want to jump a bandwagon... it isn't fun. (even if the bandwagon is the keep everything balanced bandwagon).
How do you (player, imm, I don't care) resist the urge to dump current characters in favor of the new and shiny?

It's one thing to bandwagon with an already created character (I did it when Eshval came out, and it sucked), but you shouldn't feel bad about wanting to try that new and shiny thing coming out. Go for it, if you want to. And if it turns out it sucks, then try something else or take the character in a different direction. But chances are you'll have fun doing exactly what you wanted to do.
Btw, I thought playing a ranger when there were 4926 other rangers was awesomely fun. I mean, it didn't really make any sense for Thera for there to be a million other rangers, but the PK and RP challenges were great.

Yeah, I never had the patience to sit in the woods and wait for people. Having a million other rangers around would help my enjoyment of the class a great deal.
