14407, You got mail

How about having something like that when a leeter arrives?

It would make note more dynamic.

The question is: Would the use of note have to be restricted because of the increased efficiency(no writing notes while sleeping, for example)? The main advantage of this is increased efficiency of communication between people in certain areas explore and their friends. And the user-friendliness, of course.

Ouch. I didn't think of people using note to communicate between each other in areas you cannot talk. Of course, you can communicate like this regardless already, you just have to inform other party members that you'll be writing them notes or letters (i.e. not the use of the pen skill, though).

Of course, you could always take away the ability to send notes in such areas. And also, like you send, the ability to take away note sending while you are asleep, for balancing purposes.

Or you could even restrict it even more. You would only receive a "you've got mail"-esque message while you're in a populated area, like a city, where there would be "delivery people" so-to-speak. I'm just in favor of being able to send a letter to a cabal or or a person specifically, like applications, without having to tell others "hey, I just sent in an app. Do you have time for an interview?". That, to me, just screams desperate.

But, after thinking about it for a while, I think that getting a message when you receive a note might be a bit unbalanced, unless certain situations dictate you cannot receive or send notes. And if that's the case, I'm sure there's plenty of other things the Imms could be coding up that are much more significant.
14413, I like it.

Sort of like the way "heraldic missives" are sent out. Having an echo when you send a letter to someone or a cabal would be cool.

I could be playing and someone sends in an application to the cabal I'm playing, then I could interview them during that session (because I rarely check my notes during my gameplay, usually only at the beginning of a session). And seeing a letter arrive while I'm playing, I could respond to it sooner as opposed to waiting until the next log in to see it.

I could see some minor benefits to something like this.
