14308, Legacy Combos
Posted by WildGirl on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Has anyone ever given thought to legacy combo bonuses?

It seems that a lot of warriors choose the most popular legacies and leave the ones that seem less useful (i.e. a lot of utility ones) alone.

What about giving hidden bonuses for choosing two separate legacies? For instance, Greeting the Avalanche and Outcry of Steel would have the chance to bash someone into another room altogether? I know warriors aren't at the top of the list for things to have worked on, but I thought this might be useful in giving people renewed interest in things rarely chosen as legacies.

The imms have on numerous occasions, told which legacies are most chosen at that time.

They have never once, that I have seen anyway, told us which legacies were the LEAST chosen at that time.

I find the dichotemy somewhat strange, as if letting us know what legacies noone is picking might be too powerful, but letting us know what legacies everyone is picking isn't. Never understood the rationale behind it.

Typing 3 legacy names is a lot less work than typing 13. I'm lazy.

How about the ten that no-one currently uses including the two you plan on basing your next warrior around? I mean you have that info, and presumably there is a combo in there that is tough, but no one is using... I'd like the chance to at least speculate (I'm not playing any warriors anytime soon). More than anything.... I'm curious which ten are not being used at all, and then trying to figure out which of those I'd want to take to be unique.

Actually I have a serious addiction to *unique* that hampers my ability to create *deadly* which I also have an addiction for. Feed my addiction! As an IMM of C(rack)F that is your purpose. C'mon man, just one hit... I swear this is the last time... I'll do anything... you know I'm good for it...

If you want to know what legacies exist read the helpfiles. There is no such thing as a bad legacy because none of them penalize you in any way for taking them. Instead of thinking of legacies as better or worse you need to think of them for what they are, situational tools.

Depending on the way you fight, what cabal your in, what gear you can get, who your fighting against, who your fighting with, what race you are, what specs you have, what preps you know different legacies are going to be more or less useful.

If your asking what legacies because you want to mimic nepenthe or try to be the different guy then well I guess thats your perogative.

The helpfiles for legacies are very straightforward and while they might not tell you exactly how effective at what they do they are they do give you a good general idea.

For the record people have been very sucesful with almost every legacy and even without legacies and it comes down more to how you play and use the tricks in your bag then what legacies you pick.

I don't have the information available to make an informed decision

>If your asking what legacies because you want to mimic

Nope. Not even slightly.

>or try to be the different guy then well I guess
>thats your perogative.

It isn't about different for the sake of it, but it's always cool to be the one that shows how neat/powerful certain combos can be. Remember when elf paladins were considered pathetic (granted changes were made) but to be the first elf paladin that rocked ever would be something that gave me warm fuzzy feelings. I don't care what other people think, I'm not looking for praise from the peanut gallery, but to take something that is regarded as weak in popular opinion, and show that in fact it is badass, well that is fun for me. Knowing which legacies are least picked gives me the opportunity to build a character around those legacies to maximize their usefullness and show just how great they can be under the right circumstances. This probably won't happen as warrior is so far down my playlist right now that I may never get there, but thinking about it at work is still better than being bored off my ass.

The helpfiles don't tell me which legacies noone is picking. I could guess at one or two of the least picked, but certainly not many, and just because I'd guess mercy of the typhoon is one of the least picked... doesn't mean that it is.

Incarnadine Wave, Mercy of the Typhoon, Fortress of the Spirit, Crashing of Waves, Landslide of the Second Breath, Calming the Tempest, Fluid Deceptions, Riddle of Resilience, Vanguards Desire, Space Between Heartbeats
14389, Thanks. And wow.

I agree with Tac, some of that's shocking. The days of every 3rd warrior having Incarnadine, Landslide, Riddle, Fluid, or Space being gone. I still love Vanguard's as my absolutely favoritestest legacy every, even if you bastards forgot to code half of it when I had it, heh. As to Crashing - has that one ever been fiddled with? Most skills have times people comment on over and under-poweredness depending on who's using it and how, but I don't think I've EVER heard anyone comment on Crashing of Waves being at all useful.

One thing I added to Crashing a year or two ago that wasn't part of the original legacy is that if you would disarm someone but get shut down by noremove etc., you at least deal a little damage instead.

Granted, the legacy is still pretty much worthless against shifters, but against most people who care about weapons to some degree I don't think it's bad.

Does the disarm from Crashing take into account the same things a typical disarm would? (weapon type being used against weapon type being disarmed, percentages in the actual disarm skill, etc.)

A bit ago, though I don't remember the thread it was attached to. Five least picked legacies. I don't have access to the game right now or I'd throw it up there again.

But I look forward to an updated list. Some of us have to keep our minds occupied with thoughts other than the murder of our #$^WQ%&@#$@ co-workers all day long with something... might as well be C(rack)F.

There are, what, 600some different legacy combinations possible? (Assuming the pick order doesn't matter... if someone wants, they can crunch the actual numbers on this.)

This sounds like it would kill me. :(
14321, Can you list top 5 and least 5 picked?

I'm curious because I'm closing in and really looking to be unique with out being gelded.

Chilling, Enigma, and Whispers are the most popular currently, in that order, with a 5-way tie for 4th place.

There are ten legacies that no warrior currently has. These include a few of my favorites, including two that I'll probably build my next warrior around. :)
14310, Warrior's don't need anymore perks.

They are fine as is. And certainly a hell of a lot stronger than they were prior to legacies.
