13420, Low INT races... how do you do it...?
Posted by Saith on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I've been wanting to try something new for a while and tossed around some ideas but I keep falling back on one problem.
Low INT. How do you do it? How do you guys get over playing a races like this?
For some reason I just can't seem to get over that hump. Spending 3 practices to learn a skill, slow skill improvments. Bah! I know its all minor things that will work themselves out in higher ranks, but even still, how do you all do it?

13421, 'gain revert'

This at least works for Orcs as far as I´ve seen... The slow learning is quite a turnoff, I agree.

Yep! I could take an orc and have max stats by lvl 5. After that I'd just revert all my trains.
But with the new rolling system it makes things a little more difficult. There've been a lot of successful duergar and giants around so I know it can be done. Its just not something that I normally play so it's going to take a lot of getting used to!
I guess it's just the balance issue. Ya gotta give a little to get a little.

13463, You need to give it more time and rank slower.

Play the PK game some in the mid ranks, but play it carefull. If you rank up fast with low int, you end up with low skills and sucking a lot at hero ranks.

13472, now there's an idea...

Yeah I'm probably what we in the business refer to as a PK sissy!
I've avoided it like the plaque and become rather good at it. But I think you are right. I need to suck it up and get my arse in there.
My main problem here is choosing enemies. I'm way too sympathetic toward the player which causes me to lose sight on the character. I could (somewhat) eliminate this by choosing an alignment or cabal.
I'll have to work on it a bit, toss a few ideas around in my head, but thanks. That wasn't bad advice at all!
