12439, Magic Cabals
Posted by Plushka on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I've noticed that most of the Cabals are anti-magic or, in the case of the scion, evil. Is there any chance that there could be a magic Cabal that isn't evil soon?

Well, technically only one cabal is anti-magic, that being Battle. You are right, however, in identifying the lack of a magic cabal that isn't evil. Without giving too much away, I'll say: "We're aware of this lack as well, and we might even do something about it some day, but please don't hold your breath waiting because we wouldn't want you to pass out at the computer."

12444, My two cents

Well, technically Tribunal and Outlander (and Herald but who cares? :)) both accept neutral mages. I already felt the evils were spread a bit thin by having both Scion and Empire, although I do like the difference between the two and they intermingle kinda neat. As a player I'm still half and half on whether or not I, were I an Imm, would try to close one of them, even temporarily (ie. Scions complete some quest, get stuck in the Shadow Plane or some crapola, and all its members disappear for awhile) to get some more evil on the same page, or if I would just keep it the way it is. On the same note, dispersing the playerbase a bit thinner than it already is rubs me the wrong way so my personal feeling is that however neato the idea could be and the niche that can be filled, I wouldn't do it were I the man on top of the mountain.
My brief two cents, - Kravidian
PS: On second thought, it would be really neat if the Scions completed some quest ordeal and then, I know it sounds gay, but kinda transform and have stronger Scion-ish powers and act less of a normal cabal than a religion - even less people but bigger restrictions on when they are powerful (day v. night). Stuff like that.

I tend to agree Re: Scion. Given their nature, forcing them to defend an item is kinda lame. Would prolly work better as a religion. Playing Scion can be fun, cuz its one hell of a bloodbath, but its also a lot of "Gee, do I even show up to this 5 v 1 raid? Will I get yelled at if I don't? Damn I'm getting booted because I don't log in enough. Bleck this isn't fun" type of thing. These days for instance, I can't in good conscience roll a Scion, because I'm just not active enough and that kinda sucks.
