11990, rp question re: chaotic evils
Posted by Isildur on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
This is from Szyrivlyrha's PBF:
Fri Apr 8 19:24:11 2005 by 'Lyristeon' at level 38 (107 hrs): Chaotic evil going with tribs to raid. And in the group with a lawful good with a neutral bridge. Bleh.
Now, I can clearly understand why it would be poor role-play for a lawful good trib to go traipsing around with a chaotic evil thief. I can see why it would be poor role-play for any good-aligned (or tribunal) to go running around with a character that is, essentially, a mafia boss. What I don't understand is why it is poor role-play for the chaotic evil character to go on a raid with goodies, presumably hoping to score some loot.
I didn't play this character, but in the past when I've had non-obvious evils (yes, I realize Szyrivlyrha was "obviously" evil) I've actively tried to get into groups with good-aligned characters, just to amuse myself with the fact that they were unwittingly aiding an evil character. I fancied myself oh-so-sneaky and devious. Was it actually poor role-play instead?

It depends on the character/role, but I don't think it's inappropriate for every chaotic evil character.
As the saying goes, chaotic evil means never having to say you're sorry.

If a chaotic evil entropy necromancer (pre-lich) can raid with arbiters (even goodies) - I say you can go for it every chance you get.
