Is cranial bugged or is this by design? If it is, it makes it pretty hard to chase with cranial, i.e. they get dazed if they flee and I try to cranial again. These were never knocked out by cranial or anything, and I thought that was the only thing that made the daze things. Some examples:
<730hp 368m 514mv 9745tnl (18.79%)> You hit Ciri over the head with the flaming scepter of Chaos. Your cranial hit injures Ciri. Ciri yells 'Help! Nerad hit me over the head!' Ciri has a few scratches. <730hp 368m 514mv 9745tnl (18.79%)> Your wrath MASSACRES Ciri! Your wrath MASSACRES Ciri! Your wrath DISMEMBERS Ciri! You parry Ciri's punch. Ciri is covered with bleeding wounds. <730hp 377m 553mv 9745tnl (18.79%)> cran ciri Your wrath DISMEMBERS Ciri! Your wrath DISMEMBERS Ciri! Your wrath MANGLES Ciri! Your wrath MASSACRES Ciri! You fail to get in one more shot as Ciri flees. Ciri has fled! Ciri leaves north. <730hp 377m 553mv 9745tnl (18.79%)> Ciri has arrived. <730hp 377m 553mv 9745tnl (18.79%)> s cran ciri He is already dazed from a blow to the skull.
--------------------------------------------------
<717hp 429m 400mv 8567tnl (35.10%)> He is already dazed from a blow to the skull.
<717hp 429m 400mv 8567tnl (35.10%)> You yell 'Die, Ghutaal, you sorcerous dog!' Ghutaal utters the words, 'grzzs'. A wave of fatigue overwhelms you with the beckoning temptation of sleep. In your dreams, or what?
You get lovely plague length as a bonus snippet. :-)
<761hp 354m 405mv 8567tnl (35.10%)> af You are affected by: Physical effect: 'plague' modifies strength by -15 for 104 hours. Spell: 'curse' modifies save vs spell by 9 for 13 hours. Spell: 'curse' modifies hit roll by -4 for 13 hours. Spell: 'blindness' modifies hit roll by -4 for 8 hours. Skill: 'warcry' modifies save vs spell by -10 for 7 hours. Skill: 'warcry' modifies hit roll by 5 for 7 hours. Power: 'truesight' for 4 hours. Power: 'truesight' for 4 hours. Spell: 'slow' modifies dexterity by -1 for 2 hours. Skill: 'sleep' for 0 hours.

I'm going to say by design. At least, it was that way the last time I played mace spec and I didn't change it, so I must have thought that was on purpose.

Something to do with cranial used as an opener will create the dazed affect, regardless of whether they get knocked out or not. Cranial in combat won't create the dazed affect, even if they are knocked out.
Or, at least that's what I recall from a couple years back.

Even if the daze aspect is by design (which must because of game balance more than anything), it's a bit annoying that there is no echo that indicates if you caused a daze or not.. I even recall putting people to sleep with cranial, and then cranialing them again for lag before they woke up.. Other times, they are protected for a tick or two after the sleep affect wears off. And the mystical daze effect only protects the victim against cranials if they are not already fighting. All in all it's pretty confusing...
