11437, Nightgaunts and rescue.
Posted by Gaenlin on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
This skill shouldn't totally defeat a nightgaunt (which it does, often). Allow the character rescuing, if dropped to an appropriate amount of health, to then be brought by the nightgaunt to the enemy conjurer.
If this is a bug, maybe I'm not posting it on the right board. Seems kinda stupid for a 40th level spell to be defeated by a level 1 spell.

I hardly think nightgaunts need to be any more powerful then they are. The solution here is simple... go hunting like everyone else. :P
Nightgaunts, like every power in the game, aren't best for every situation. Just because a few people have answers for it some of the time, doesn't negate just how powerful nightgaunts can be in the right situation.
Think of it like fishing. You may have a fine hook, but if you toss it into every single body of water you come upon without any plan, you're not going to have a very high success rate. On the other hand if you research the best times, places and methods to go fishing, then you'll have some pretty good luck.
Sorry for the stupid analogy. On second thought, just read the first two paragraphs. Thanks.

I'll agree with that.
Throwing a nightgaunt at the right person at the right time is 90% of the skill involved in using the spell.
