Do the following to shamans.
Get rid of rot.
Get rid of wither.
Make damnation targetable, lessen the maelidictive effect some.
Make a new supp that is similar to rot but does the following --
it is targetable to all attributes besides con. This includes hp, mana and moves, but not saves. It does a big initial maelidication to the attribute of choices (say three teirs depending on saving throw, 12, 7 and 3 for normal stats, for hp mana and moves 150, 100, 50)
It also saps the chosen attribute for however many hours. It does not kill people.
Make the mana cost in the 100-150 range.
Add one more supp that his hp/mana/moves (all three) directly to the tune of a random numer between 50-100 each. Make this expensive to cast.
Shamans would be less "cheap kills" (with rot) but over all i should think the same amount of deadly, and certainly more tactical.
Just an idea.

I seldom have any trouble with rot with my chars, have some saves in your set and a few extra con and you are dandy. But sure it might be a cheap supp in some situations but I would argue that bash/trip/neuro/pwk/cleave/sleep/assassinate/etc can be as well, at times anything can seem cheap.

My arguement with rot is that it particularly hurts the more longevity characters. If I have a shaman as a main enemy for an older character, it just ruins the end fun, because even if you send them packing...you get rotted, you stand a good chance of being dead. Even with gearing straight for con, I often won't survive.
