My main question is: Why not play a brand new regular character? Instead of power-ranking through the first couple of ranks, take your time and help someone out. Don't rank past 10, or just delete afterwards and start over with more newbies. Seems to offer all the positives, without all the extra coding and abuse worries.

Also, I don't think most people would want their most 'famous' characters roleplayed by strangers. Often, a lot of what made them cool was that someone did something with them that other people can't easily duplicate.
