532, How do I deal with poisons and plagues.

FIght shaman. Get poisoned. run out of moves and die of poison
Walk around, looking at things as ghost. Step into a prison cell (suicide).
Go buy canteens. Get one-shotted by ranger.
Walk around, looking at things as ghost. mob transes me to n0-exit demon (death)
Get one shotted by same ranger.
Walk past mob with plague in past, run outta moves and get killed by passerby.

This is a comprehensive run-down of my last 2 hours on CF over the week. It sucked ass and is really punishment playing. The best poison cures I've found are like 25... and they literally take 5 minutes of just walking to get one. 5 minutes of walking to carry something which doesn't heal my poison in one shot.. What the hell, is my time better spent????

I still haven't found anything to cure disease yet. Meanwhile I have to carry around things so I can fly, reduce, aura, shield, stoneskin, recall, heal, refresh... etc. etc. etc. etc.

For a winning 15 ticks of fighting it's like i have to spend 4 years searching and after that 1 hour of gathering stuff up.. Come on, what gives?

So after this list.. I'm still trying to regear.

* Find a wand location *yiippeee!*
* Meet someone who appears friendly. I aura up. They get close and attack me. I disarm them first attack??? Then, my elemental stomps them. I'm still forced to flee. I flee, quaff potion but die first to fire damage from city. (full looted). Person fits profile of neutral (kill whatever, roleplay? nah).
* I note to myself that I'm saying "####" a lot icly :P
* Same person is fighting some guy. I help said guy by picking up his heat-metalled gear. He then pesters me about returning it before I'm healed up. I go return all but 1 item because I'm being charitable. He bitches, blackjacks me, and steals my ####.
* Guy catches up to me bleeding in some remote city. Kills me.

I usually carry a couple of teleports and return potions with me at the least. This way if something happens, i.e. I get plagued/poisoned/scourged, etc. I can quaff a return to the healer and try and atleast heal the poison and plague, or keep myself somewhat healed and hope to wait it out. If I am cursed, then I can teleport away from the danger (most times) and wait out the curse and then quaff a return and heal up. While this is not a 100% certainty against these things(no magic rooms, deathtraps, bad teleports, being lagged by said attacker on top of maledictions, etc.) it is some form of insurance against death and does give you somewhat manageable odds against these attacks.

Poison and plague (and a host of other maledictions) are level based. This means that, if a level 25 shaman communes them on you, a level 1 potion isn't likely to cure you.

Save vs. spell gear will help prevent those communes/spells from landing on you in the first place. Sure, you might have to sacrifice hit/dam/HP to get it, but that's one of those tough choices we've all got to make. What's your priority?

There are healer mobs scattered throughout Thera, many of them not in towns (those are usually just the easiest to find / most convienient following a recall). These are usually cheaper to utilize than potions/pills; you pay less because healers aren't portable.

Believe it or not, there are quite a few potions/pills/staves/scrolls/items/etc. out there that are quite useful for curing poison/plague, are fairly high level, and aren't all that hard to get. I'm not taunting you with this information; I'm telling you that this stuff is out there, be persistent, look for it, and you'll probably find it.

As for the other items on your list, I agree...it sucks to get one-shotted by a ranger, stuck in a prison cell, transed around by mobs, killed by poison, whatever your flavor of the day is. But, at the end of the week, I can pretty much guarantee that: you'll avoid the woods more when that ranger is around, not fall for that prison cell trap again, avoid the demon trasferring mob, have a better shot against poison and plague and, in general, you'll be a better player now than you would if none of those things had happened to you.

It's a pretty steep learning curve, my friend, but the challenge is what makes it great. We've all been there.

I rarely, if ever use any preps to cure diseases like that. Most of the time if I get diseased, poisoned, or scourged, I'll head to a healer and just pay them to cure it. All major towns have them, and coupled with a few recall potions, it should handle a good bit of your troubles. Just have to worry about getting cursed, then.

There are items which help you heal up and refreshes your legs. There are items called teleport potions/pills. There are scrolls too. There are items which cure plagues. All these easily obtainable at low ranks too.

Explore around abit more.
