4320, Manacles
Posted by Hopelsss Caster on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
If I want to play a chaotic mage (like a invoker or a transmuter), how can I avoid manacles knowing I will be wanted most of the time?

I want to attack the spire, play a chaotic character and still be able to cast spells in town and not get owned. How might one do this?

And if you have windwalk, you can almost certainly get out of town without getting stopped. My druid used to run from the spire out the northwest gate and would almost never be attacked on the way.

Manacles isn't a foolproof thing. Also, if you are a dexy muter, and have yourself covered against dex loss, you can probably outmelee half of the mud anyway.

Windwalk doesn't work in town without the edge.

You can wind walk at the trib outer, for example.

Having said that I'm probably thinking of path finding when it comes to running away fast when manacled if needed.

I've never had a problem escaping out the northwest gate.
4324, What does an invoker do against a thief or polearm warrior with cutoff?

Just dead usually.

Cast spells and kill them.

Some of the spells won't get through, but some will, too.

Wands (both to enable them to last when some of their spells fail, and to, for example, wither the polearm out of the guy's hands). Remember you only need to land one grease to swing things a bit.
Shield of electricity, if they are using metal weapons.

Overall though, a wanded up voker can normally blast the warrior into fleeing. Also, spell selection would change. For example, that acid stream spell becomes arguably a better choice.
