I've reach a point where I get the message "You cannot advance further till you have chosen a path to follow." I've been told in game that I need to choose a sphere, something I believe in. Is choosing a sphere entirely role play or does it affect your characters development in terms of alignment, pracs, skills etc. I've read as much of the help files on this as I can find but they don't mention anything about choosing paths and how that affects game play.

Looking for advice. By the way I'm a level 11, neutral ethos, evil aligned fire giant.

Choosing a sphere is entirely RP oriented. It will not affect your alignment, how many practices you get per level, how effective you are in combat, etc.

It can affect the future of your character, however. The sphere you follow is often a major determinant in what religions you can or cannot be a part of, should you choose to follow a religion.

Let me try to explain it.

Think of your character and how he would act. If he is a fire giant, he may think of a few things (and a few things alone) in his life. War, Hate, Lust, Greed etc. Now pick the most important thing to him, the emotion/drive that he thinks of first and foremost before making actions. That would be his sphere.

If I am a paladin who would die before bowing to an enemy, I may be sphere pride (because I'm too proud to). However, if that same Paladin won't bow because he hates the darkness rather then just feels prideful, he may be sphere Destruction (destruction of the evil in Thera).

Hope that explained it better

So, if you were born a taurus, you should be somewhat head strong and stubborn in your rp. Thus someone who is sphere love should have an entirely different roleplay from somone who is sphere destruction.

Just one thing, if Sipud is your actual character's name, I reccommend registering a forum handle other than Sipud to use to post anything other than goodbye notes on the battlefield and bugs on the bugboard.
