The help file is not very informative...
How long does the effect of stalking last and what cancels it out?
Do you start all over when a person sees you? Leaves an area? Logs off?
How many times stalking do you need do on a victim to have a noticeable impact? Is there an obvious point of diminishing returns?

When you stalk someone, your stalk count for them goes up.
Over time it goes down; when they see you or they otherwise become aware of you, it goes down.
If you haven't stalked enough, assassinate always fails.

Also, as I learned through reading logs after my first assassin....you only have to be in the same area as the person you stalk, not just the same room :P

What's a ballpark # of stalks before you tend to attempt an assassination? Any rules of thumb would be awesome!

One of my assassins got his only assassinate after 2 stalks. Crazy when I think how many that one failed with many stalks.
