2483, A question about swiftstrike
Posted by ilanthas on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Hello all,
I was wondering how does swiftstrike works? I have a rank 22 elven hunter but I dont see his inherent swiftstrike ever work.
Thanks,
Ilanthas

Hello,
If swSince swiftstrike only works with parry, then why do hunters even get the archery skill? You get maybe two attacks with rapid shot while anyone else of the same rank melee class gets up to six attacks with dual wield. You cant even serpent strike with a bow. Archery seems to be a pretty useless skill. I dont know if I am just not seeing its usefulness or what. Does archery actually come in useful for anything?
Thanks,
Ilanthas

Without trying to analyze the skill, not all hunters are high elves.

Beyond that, archery gives you a lot more defense (typically) than dual wield, and gives you attacks that have advantages melee doesn't. Sometimes archery is a smarter option for you, sometimes meleeing is a smarter option.
2485, You have to parry.

If you're using a bow, you're not going to get swiftstrikes. Why the helpfile doesn't actually say that the skill works off of parry, I really don't know.

Wield anything else, and let parry do its thing, and you'll see swiftstrikes.

You need to parry to have a chance to swiftstrike.

So if you're using a bow... yeah.
