2161, items
Posted by mage on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
If I have a limited item on one of my characters that I no longer want for that character, and I have another character that I wouldn't mind having it on, is it allowable if I sacrificed the item with my character who has it, and then using my other character, went and got it directly from the NPC that it came from?
If so, is this true even if the item is requestable?

2163, RE: Loopholes:

Given some of your recent experiences, I would suggest not trying to find loopholes in the rules. One important idea behind several of the rules is: "Am I creating an unfair advantage for my other character?", which this clearly would be.

It's actually a reason why I'd like to see a one-player, one character limit.
Otherwise you can essentially level up a second character and then scoop up the gear from the first when you delete. I'm sure a lot of people actually do that.

I'm a huge proponent of this. I think it has been requested so many times and always shot down that there is no chance of it, however,

2166, Not sure how it could work
Posted by incognito on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I'm not IT savvy these days, but seems to me as if it would be hard to identify a player. Unless players had to register their characters, which could work if no one could actually check the register.

Easier said than done. Large commercial games that use credit cards to track accouts haven't found a good way to do it-- people get a friend to start an account and use it, etc.
Our tracking has one big advantage and one big advantage relative to them. The obvious big disadvantage is that we don't ask you for financial or other personally identifying information when you create a character. That said, we have a much higher staff:playerbase ratio than commercial games (where adding a staff member usually means adding a salary), and there's a bit more human intelligence in the system.

No, that's not okay, and you probably should expect to lose both characters if it's noticed.
See: rules.
