2052, recycling roles
Posted by Klaak on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
What's the immortall staff's view on recycling the role of a character? This is something I've wondered about for a very very long time (since around 2002 or something like that). Let's say that someone writes up a role, and plays the char for a while, then later deletes, for whatever reason. But they never really had a chance to fully play out that role they'd written? Is it considered cheap/bad form to recycle that role in a different character?

2054, doesn't answer the question
Posted by Klaak on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
That post, if i read the right one, actually doesn't answer the question I had. For one thing, I'm not even concerned with the name. I'm mostly concerned about the role itself. Let's say I roll up Bob, the svirf smurf. I model him after Miner Smurf, but make him a rager wannabe. Now let's say that that I get him to level 21, with lots of interractions with people of grouping levels, maybe one or two outside grouping range, but hasn't yet made any significant impact on the game (and maybe some imm notices, but how would I know if no Xp given). Then for whatever reason, I feel like I need to delete, but I really want to play out that role. Is it feasible to roll up a different svirf character, also modeled after Miner Smurf (though tweak the role slightly so that it's not identical), make him a rager wannabe too, and try to play out the role again in this character with a different name?

It did, but, I will reiterate. If you made it to level 21 and had a role you liked, chances are 99% that nobody is going to remember it so I wouldn't worry about it.
