1909, Empire questions
Posted by Dave on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Hey all,
I'm a new player and I've only been in Fortress. On of my problems is that as a goodie I don't know where to look for evils, so I plan on trying out an evil.
In the helpfile it says you can get bloodoathed from any citizen.
My questions are..
Are bloodoaths citizens?
Is it better to ask a blade if you want to be a blade, etc.
What do people do to get Anathemaed? Or will that be explained to me once I am bloodoathed via texts as such.
Thanks a bunch.

Good idea. Also the best way to figure if something that beats your ass is truly "overpowered" or just happens to beat your particular combo - play it!

Nope. Bloodoaths are allowed into the Palace and they can donate and walk past centurions, but they get no powers. They can hear the cabal channel but not speak on it. They cannot offer the bloodoath.

Not from an immortal perspective. This is sort of an IC thing. Some folks play it a badge of honor if they got the Oath from the Emperor/War Master/etc. Others find the first Imperial who will give them the oath and give it. With my last Imperial, I decided to do the latter, because his role was such that he was essentially born into the Empire (i.e. giving the oath just made it "official"). It just so happened that the first Imperial I saw was the Emperor, so he sorta did both of the above. :P

Breaking any of the Imperial Laws (which you should be shown once you are oathed) is the biggie for getting anathed.
Things that can lead you down the road to anath are items such as: 1. Displaying any weakness publicly (Everyone dies, everyone does stupid stuff that causes them to die, but announcing on cb how stupid you were or how that particular enemy is unbeatable is bad.). 1.5 Asking for "too much" help. This sorta goes with the above. Example: "cb Does anyone have anything spare?" is weak. "cb I have gold reserves in the bank that I am willing to part with, if anyone has anything worth purchasing." is not. 2. Disrespecting any of the Imperial Council (they'll start to scheme to get you demoted/anathed or do it themselves). 3. Low donations. 4. Other stuff I've forgotten.
>Thanks a bunch.
You're welcome. Go gettem!

1915, Slight possibly critical addendum...

While Bloodoaths are allowed in the Palace, I think the guardians in the throne room will still attack you if you walk it. This is a quick way to a death and anathema too (for attacking the guardians of the Codex).
At least... I seem to remember this being the case. Is this wrong?

1916, This is correct.

As Hunsobo I always explained this to those I oathed, though I'm not sure if an Oath can actually walk up into the Throne Room.

Hah. And I made such a big deal of telling them not to enter the throne room. Like Twist I also assumed they'd attack.

1929, Another important note.

Outer and centurions will NOT be protected from your area spells. Trustcabal will NOT work. And if you do infact area into centurions during a defense or whatnot, do NOT walk back into the cents, they will agro your ass.

Not logging on very often (especially as a leader) may not get you anathema'd, but it'll probably get you busted down to bloodoath or the first tier in your sect.
