1686, flee chances

What determines the chances of a successful flee?

It seems like when my characters attack, the enemy flees pretty much instantaneously. Sometimes, a few times in a row, and sometimes as many as 10 times in a row (If I pursue and attack them again). On the other hand, when I see some big bruiser coming my way, I don't even seem to be able to flee once in 3 or 4 tries, and then my character gets bashed or tripped once and it's over. It feels right now like other characters are moving in and out of combat at will and I'm unable to escape at all, so I thought maybe there were some determinants to flee success I'm not aware of (I don't know any). I've played some cabaled characters, and pretty much the same thing -- if someone is attacking the outer, they seem to be able to flee at will and return to attack my character. If I'm attacking an outer, I try to flee unsuccessfully 5 or 6 times when a defender shows up and then die.

I did a search, went back to 2005, but didn't find anything on this though I ended up doing a lot of reading.

Thanks!

1687, I think that blocked exits are one factor.

Such as trying to flee to a direction that is blocked by a door. Can an Imm confirm this?

This is from memory, but I've mucked about in Flee before.

I think the main situational modifier (barring skills like Improved Flee, which makes you into a super fleeing machine) is how easy the room is to move out of. Dead end? Tough. Four-way road intersection? Not so tough.

The rest is primarily random.
