1578, Buy ticket at seaport - how?
Posted by Lund on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
OK. I will now reveal my amazing skill at puzzles. I wasn't able to figure out how to buy a ticket to sail to Arkham from the Seaport of Hamsah Mu'tazz. I was at the edge of the dock and the ship rolled in, selling tickets. I tried various commands like buy and pay, to no avail. Is this supposed to be a puzzle or is it OK to tell this poor newbie how to do it? LOL

You'd be better off carrying a 60lb raft rather than use this ship. It takes like 10 hours to get from Hamsah to Arkham.
That is of course, if your only intent is to get from one place to the next.

Ten *game* hours, right? About five minutes real life?

Yeah, it's cheap but time consuming. I really want to figure out a way to shorten the ship times, but if the boat is docked taking tickets for 4 hours in the Seaport and, say, four hours in Modan, then that leaves me 16 hours that needs to get taken up by travel time, so it's 8 game ticks either way. It's hard to shorten that up time wise unless I move where they pop in because other boats are trying to dock at their set schedules.
I'll probably take a look at moving the ferries to a ferry spot. That'll shorten up the travel times. In the mean time, it's not a bad idea to take a boat while you go and grab a beer!

Or you could shorten the travel times and have them spend more time at the destination port. The alternative is the ships doing two or more runs/day. Something like 3 ticks in port, 3 ticks either way. Total 12 ticks/cycle. One dock spot would have docking capability for four ferries that way. Also, a timetable object(some kind of a bulletin board or sign) in the dock room where the ferry is boarded would be nice(if there's one's one already, I've missed it).

You have to buy tickets ON the ship!

Ha! Excellent! OK - how do I get on the ship? I tried that too! LOL
I know I'm goofy. I'm used to special commands like "board" and I have a feeling, now, that maybe I just needed to type "e" for east! LOL
(I was afraid to fall in the water. Arials can't swim!)

The ship is room that is sometimes there(area echoes tell the arrival and departure). Be visible to the captain when you arrive to one.

There's nothing to be afraid of mechanics-wise
