This is my first time using MUD, what is the command to login?

The game is played using telnet or MUD client program. I personally use a program called MUSHclient(a shareware version can be downloaded from internet. There are other clients around too).

One way to log in to CF is to press the connect button in the sidebar of this site. That will open your default telnet client and the game will ask what name you wish to be mourned.

When playing using MUD client, you'll have to create a new world to the client. The information needed is the adress, which is www.carrionfields.com and port number, which is 9999. After creating a new world, open it with the client and the game will ask by what name you wish to be mourned.

After that, type in your characters name. The game will ask if you got the name right for the first time if your type a name of a character that doesn't exist. There will be questions to verify that your name is appropriate and you will determine your password(pick some made up fantasy name as your name, but try not to plagiate obvious names by creating a Gandalf or such). After that, character creation will begin.

If you already have a character, just type in the name and password when the game asks by what name you wish to be mourned. After that, you are logged in and can play the game.

After your character is created, write up your stats on a piece of paper. You have three trains to use to improve stats as level 1. When you reach your guildmaster in academy, use the trains so, that your wisdom is at least 18, your intelligence is at least 17 and train your constitution to maximum. This will give your character a good start to the world. I recommend a race/class combination like arial assassin for first character.

Are you sure? Because I already have an account and I typed in Darius(that's my account name) and it says "Illegal name, please try again".

I registered with PhaseBurn, but an immortal changed it to Darius. Can you please help me? None of those names work(PhaseBurn and Darius).

Also, if this might help my character was dead and I logged out without saving.

There was a problem with renaming where it would allow an Immortal to rename you so that you share a name with an NPC. (This normally isn't permitted, largely because of the interaction with abilities like Summon.) That's no longer possible as of the reboot that just happened, and you should be able to log in normally now (as Darius).
