72, Could we get some reassurance?
Posted by trh on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
No matter which way you look at it, four or five good Immortals leaving is definitely not a good thing. Is Carrion Fields doomed? Is our sky falling?

Of the Immortals who are left, who are the ones who are active and don't intend on leaving any time soon?

Despite my wife's angst, I'm still having too much fun to walk away any time soon.

I just got GRURK personalized plates. Nope, not going anywwhere.

btw, if you see a black SUV with GRURK plates and a "..Glad this isn't
Eastern Road.." bumper sticker, don't tailgate or I'll smite thee!

I'm around....and I'm not making any huge spanning promises, but as of now, I've got no intention of vanishing. *IF* ever I do leave, I assure you, it won't be out of anger, it won't be out of frustration...it'll be out of a sense of time to move on. However, I don't see that happening anytime soon. That being said, last week I worked 73 hours, the week before that I put in 65, and the week before that I clocked 62....soooooo my 'freetime' is sorta rare, and gets expended on real life (sorry kids, but the single life gets dull after awhile...and eventually one must start actively seeking one of those elusive females)

Surely you can cook their pants off? The sound of my knife hitting a cutting board was always quickly followed by the sound of a pair of panties hitting the floor. . .
87, I'll be here

Just so long as my sugar momma keeps paying the bills and keeping me in my jammies until noonish.

I will simply echo the wise words of the other immortals. We've had a few go their seperate way and that's all it is. Nothing more, nothing less.

Although..I am hoping to get a job. *screech* If that happens. I might be here less....but still here.

My criteria for CF is as long as it is fun, I will be here in some capacity. While the sky isn't falling, a few pieces have fallen and given a bit of a knee-jerk and emotional whack.

I don't know how else to put it. Real life is going to hit some people some of the time. My take on my role in CF is this: As long as I am having fun, I am not going anywhere. I have the absolute fullest confidence and an extremely high comfort level with the current staff. I got along with those who left, but the wheels turn from the ones who are still here. All this means is that those of us who are the rp imms, like myself (this is not an official job, all the imms rp when IC, I just have no clue as to coding so I help more with the questy and interaction stuff), are going to have to pick up the slack from that angle. But, know that all the really neat stuff going on as far as implementation of new skills, powers etc. all come from the guys that are still here. I am always looking for more mortal interaction, I will just use new ways to do it.
78, Here's how I look at it

Ever had a session where you stayed on an hour longer than you wanted to because of a good ranking group or cabal raid/retrieve dynamics? If you have, you'll notice that as soon as one person leaves, two, three, sometimes even more all leave at about the same time.

Now, some people see this and say "Ahah---cheaters!". I see it and just figure a bunch of people stayed on past when they need to log off, and as soon as one or two leave, the snowball starts rolling and everybody logs off.

I figure it's the same way with imms. Nobody plays forever, everyone has a life, some have families, etc. We all grow up eventually, even if your over the hill like me. For whatever the original reason, when an imm leaves, a few others are going to "reassess" their situation, level of enjoyment, free time to commit to cf, etc. Some of those others will decide it's time to move on as well.

In fact, I'd have to say that most immortal departures occur in fits and spurts and it's somewhat normal.

I'm not as active as I'd like due to work, and I apologize to
the handful of empoweree players this impacts as well as the
Heralds who probably have an overabundance of tea in my absence.

As a player, I don't plan on leaving. As a character, well,
Qaledus is fairly niche and where I spend my time may need a
little readjustment. (I don't *think* anyone is trying to kill
him but historically Thief Gods never see it coming).

For someone as comfortable with the shadows you'd think that wouldn't be the case. :p

We're not doomed. The sky is not falling, though its certainly gotten a little cloudier recently. I don't plan on going anywhere.
