Tell me I'm hallucinating, or that they misreported this... or something! I just started re-reading the wheel of time series too. What a bummer. Well everybody dies and all that, but still... pretty sad.

1538, As I said in another thread

He always stated in interviews that the series was supposed to end in book 12, no matter how long he had to make book 12.
He spent the last few months of his life dictating notes on book 12 to his wife and son.
He, and they, said he had finished this. They have all the notes, the complete story, and how he wanted it written.
So when they come out with the book, which they are working on now, it shouldn't be too far off from what he would have written.

1535, Good Grief.

It's sad.
I believe that man was a real mover.
I believe when the day comes, and all wake, he'll be a mover in a better place.
He moved me.
The part of his works I enjoyed most was the MULTIPLE intricate story lines.
That trait of his stories gave me invaluable insight to my day to day real life.
We all have MULTPILE intricate story lines in our lives.
In real life, the story lines can't be rendered down to words on a page.
While I understand the reasoning for removing the areas inspired by his works from CF,
Some of my fondest memories of CF will always be:
Discovering the ter'angreal in the basement of the White Tower Levelling and PK'ing those who were leveling on novices Running around wearing the Amyrlin's stole and serpent rings Wielding the Heron Marked blade Being able to fly around as an airform and get sleeks from TV and Modan in under six ticks.
CF is a work of art, just as this man's books were.
We are all priviledged to enjoy the Game.
May he rest in peace.

1534, I hadn't heard about this, and I am bummed out.

Although Eye of the World was a bit too purple for my tastes, I fell in love with the series as we saw the heroes wrestling their own demons and the storylines took on a decidedly darker tone. The series was for the most part the only fantasy I read strictly for pleasure these last five years, and I was hoping that this Christmas would bring the Final Battle.

1496, It's unfortunate.

I had recently started listening to them at work again. It caught me somewhat by surprise - I knew he was suffering the illness for some time, but had thought he had been at a relatively stable point recently. I can only assume that someone will undertake the last book, as I don't believe he was done with it yet.

Someone had better finish the last book.
I left off a quarter of the way through "The Path of Daggers" after the abduction.
Once the series is finished. I'm going to take the time to read all of them in succession.

1537, Part of the problem...

This is more hearsay than research, but from what I gather he started the books, got a contract for 13 books, thinking they would be maybe a trilogy and then he'd have steady work for a while. Eye of the world took off and they insisted on all 13 being wheel of time. If you notice the end of the third could easily have been the whole end point with just a little change. I assume it was originally meant to, so then he had to drag the story out to meet the contract. While his wife and kid have all the notes and instructions from him on how to proceed on book 12. I hate to say it, but 12 might not be then 'end' but they'll kind of make it the end if you get me. I'm not going to expect much, then no matter how crappy it turns out, I'll be okay with it. *rofl*

Maybe this issue gets more press for the series.
Maybe more people will pick up the books than would have otherwise.
I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post.
ENJOY THE GAME!
