Or change it. For instance, many people thought giving women the vote would be the "end of the nation as we know it". Or ending state-enforced segregation. Etc. etc. In many ways those folks were right on target. Those changes did represent the "end of the nation as we know it." The nation was radically changed. For the better.

My family's here, my job's here, and it's a bitch to get Canadian citizenship. Plus it's too damn cold. Why should I leave? I'd rather vote in people who'll make the sorts of changes I consider beneficial. If it ever gets bad enough for me to leave, which I doubt will ever happen, then I'll consider Canada.
