Posted by Egrelam on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Alright I am not even sure where to start.
Let me tell you my story:
I have been mudding since 1998 maybe 1999 and was known as one of those Russian cheaters was part of elite Russian circle blah blah during the times when Waigretis was around, Rooqweaz, Zorszaul, Muskul, Drucyrus and bunch of other people.
My previous char got denied for arguing with imms for spreading info about Silent Tower, Hell and pretty much everything else.
Egrelam was a come back character after 2-3 year break and I just wanted to see if I can do it.
PK was no interest to me I wanted to see how the game changed, what was added and I enjoyed every single moment of it.
Frankly I hardly remember my way around Galadon but I am pretty good with some areas, so I started exploring taking people to Hell (I think I did about 20-30 trips in total, some solo) While building a nice set and aiding more and more people I was really enjoying this character.
Some people would call me a hoarder but I am not really sure if agree to that.
Any piece of gear I had I used and if it was useless I would give it away to the young ones. People would say I never take any chances?
Yeah that’s true while carrying 40 aura charges on me I would never walk the Eastern road without flight, aura protection and the rest of the bard crap:)
Leading a group to hell and being bashed and tripped by some of them cause of the gear is something I would never expect, kinda cheap I guess being screwed by new generation of ESL kids but heh such is life.
I would like to thank all the ppl who aided me and I hope I was helpful to you fellas as well.
Flaire you are still missed and you are reborn in a way :) we had good times.
Tellik I could always count on you and you would always keep my pockets full. Thank you for all the travels, we had a blast.
Egrelam was getting old so it was time to delete.
I will be making another bard or a healer some time soon and hopefully going through Hell would be much easier this time.
All I want to say by this people just chill and enjoy the game and you will have a blast, no point whining yelling or screaming or what ever you do! It’s just a piece of text in the end but it can be very addictive.
I knew my rings would kill me in the end but it was worth it, I was building my set for about 200 hours without killing anyone. It was all either from explore trips or people giving it to me.
Imms: I had no role so I never interacted with any of you. Thank you for keeping the game running for so long.
My gear (Not sure if it’s appropriate to paste it here)

Did you discover some "trick" to gambling, or what? Because that's a hell of a lot of Inn rewards. If you did figure out a trick, don't post it here. I'm just curious if there's something I've been missing this whole time. Whenever I gamble, I use luck items, take the lucky edge, etc., and I still go in and blow 150 gold with very little to show for it.

Posted by Egrelam on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Lucky edge and unlimited gold supply and you can win a lot like really a lot.
Try sticking with same number perhaps.
I won pretty much everything except the duck.

What was this elite gear being referenced that caused said Imperials to trick you into grouping and then taking you to a trap?

Make a note though, "WHen Evil Engrish baring Bastards invite you on a merry trip to Hell....chose the Fortlanders adventure party instead."

Posted by TMNS on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Or did it magically appear on you?
79418, As you can notice, I do not and I am not going to answer your bitching.
Posted by Linden on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
My post was for Lightmage to explain things to some degree. YOu may continue. Dont forget to mention "ganksquad" "russian cheaters" and "i dont understand your poor english"

Buddy read my goodbye note, then think again!
79420, I have one thing to say to this inane post of yours.
Posted by TMNS on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!

Seriously dude. I answered Lightmage, and you immediately got pissy and now say you were trying to answer him, when you did nothing of the sort.

You come off like a gigantic douche. That has to translate into Russian, right (and that's not speculation, I know your player)?
79415, It was my own fault
Posted by Egrelam on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I came back from the club and decided to mud for a bit.
Ditching two players and taking Emperials to Inferno was my own fault.

Drinking and mudding is fun you should try it some time:)

You're actually proud of ganging down an uncaballed bard under those particular dubious circumstances.
79354, Yeah, join my list of sad
Posted by Daurwyn2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Everything that was said to me about Egrelam suggests that he didn't hoard eq. He just had geat eq.

If claiming you had issues about geat hoarding makes you feel less cheap, then go you.

You can kill a hoarder without pretending to be allied and waiting for him to be vulnerable.

At least, other people can. Apparently you can't.

You went for a cheap gank, and you are now known for being cheap gankers.

79355, RE: Yeah, join my list of sad
Posted by Linded on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
We will cry from shame. Also, we used bash and trip. Cheap skills, yes. Are we known as cheap bashers and trippers now?
79356, you can joke
Posted by daurwyn2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
It doesn't change the cheapness.

Bash and trip is one thing. Killing groupmates is another, because it is foolproof.

If you just wanted nice gear, that's one thing, and I didn't post when it was left at that, but don't pretend you didn't mean it, or that you didn't know who you were killing.
79357, RE: you can joke
Posted by Linden on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
We wanted some item, and thought Egrelam has it. He did not and then I remembered that another one holds it. Though it does not matter we were not happy getting some of his shinies. Its cheap kill, but dont try to put it, that its so easy to kill explorer-type char who does not want to fight at all and "other people do it (easily)".

79367, I find it funny
Posted by Elhe on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
when people complain about liches hoarding eq and these people are ready to kill liches in cheap way. But when it happens with somebody else they scream about how bad it is.

(it does not mean I take anyone's side here).
79369, RE: I find it funny
Posted by Isildur on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
That's because liches played by skilled players who also have really nice gear are "really hard" to kill. Non-pk-oriented bards aren't. Especially when led somewhere under false pretenses then double-crossed.
79373, Yea but
Posted by elhe on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
are you saying difference that bard was unskilled(was he? most likely he was skilled player). So if he is skilled and hard to kill you can do it to him? Otherwise no?

p.s. Non-pk-oriented bard much harder to kill =)
79376, Are you talking about Zorszaul?
Posted by Balrahd. on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The only time I can think of someone trying to kill a Lich with this kind of lameness is when Palin tried it against Zorszaul. Who simultaneously was trying it against Palin. But this happened last century.

I did think the Palin-Zorszaul situation was potentially lame if Zorszaul was really played by an IMM (because then Zorszaul's player would know that Palin had an IMM quest to kill him, making it easy to pierce through Palin's pretense of grouping together to gather EQ and betray Palin first). Wow that just sounded really soap opera-ish. :)

Overall, though. I thought this kind of thing was what evil characters were supposed to do? Betray each other? It's sad, pathetic, and mean spirited. But isn't that what being "evil" is? I'm with Daurwyn and Nep and all that re: this being horrible sportsmanship, but still... what's the downside to being evil if this isn't it?

The OOC pathetic part is that (1) Zwerg and Linden are bragging about betraying groupmates as if it's cool, and (2) neither Zwerg, Linden, or any of their ilk are trying ANY betrayal attempts within the Empire. Which, call me crazy, is supposed to be the balancing factor for why imperial powers are so cool. Will the IMMs EVER consider rebalancing imperial powers in light of the fact that betrayals just don't happen? :P
79379, RE: Are you talking about Zorszaul?
Posted by Daevryn on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
>The OOC pathetic part is that (1) Zwerg and Linden are
>bragging about betraying groupmates as if it's cool, and (2)
>neither Zwerg, Linden, or any of their ilk are trying ANY
>betrayal attempts within the Empire.

This really cuts to the heart of what I was trying to say.

It's not that it's out of character or bad roleplay. It's not even that I might not do the same thing in their shoes. I just wouldn't treat it like any kind of achievement to go to Hell with a non-PK-oriented character and gang them down.

The other downside to publicizing it (Zwerg and Linden's choice, so I can't really call it character assassination on anyone else's part) is that, not to channel Pro, if two guys who don't seem to speak English as a first language ask me to group up and go to a locked room, I'm running the other way. (Or getting even more of my friends to wait for them there.)
79381, RE: Are you talking about Zorszaul?
Posted by Linden on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I really have no idea why you got my post as "bragging" since I clearly used the word "shame".

79382, RE: Are you talking about Zorszaul?
Posted by Linden on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I am "newbie" in Empire and maybe I just dont know something, but isnt "any betrayal" results in anaphema or demotion for betrayer? Also I clearly stated one more reason of this in my first post.
79391, No, betrayal is ok
Posted by Daurwyn2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
You just need to be sure your fellow betrayers aren't going to betray you.

Besides, there are lots of ways to betray people without getting caught.
79409, RE: No, betrayal is ok
Posted by Linden on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Thanks for advice, I will think about it.

We were not get caught. I just posted it here.
79384, Jeez
Posted by Elhe on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
C'mon I'm not saying that Zwerg and Linden did something they should be proud of or that they did something wrong (I don't really know what happened and all). However I'm sick of people who justify the same situation in different ways. That's it.
79389, Err...
Posted by Balrahd. on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I think I was sort of agreeing with you.. but then it may not have come across from my tone or my rant re: imperial politics. But I was.

Plus, I was curious if you were talking about the Zorszaul situation or something else.
79392, The problem is a mechanics one
Posted by Daurwyn2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM

Her council took her somewhere cursed, let her get hurt and ganged her down horribly, then Enlilth Anathema'd her.

That is the basic equivalent to what douchebags 1+2 did.

Of course, for Egrelam, this is why you don't go places with Imperials or the occasional Scion.

I feel shame about what I did to you to make you delete a character you put effort and time into

even though you are a "gear hoarder" so that makes it ok for me to shamelessly gank and full loot you.

But it wasn't you we were after, so even though we did all that to screw up something you put effort into, it's ok for us.

But in the end..

I guess I am KIND OF sorry...

####ing Kind of sorry?

WTF is that, tell me, either you are sorry for something you did, or you are not... you don't kind of apologize for being a total prick.

Either you do, or you don't.
