I'm glad Twist turned on the double-XP, I meant to but was running late this morning and didn't get logged in until late this afternoon.

What are your hours-played like these days? Did you take the last log you had of yourself and set your hours back to that or just figure that you're starting anew in the 5th age?

You totally just proved yourself to be chaotic. Now change this as soon as possible mister, you've been playing the character wrong all along...

Just kidding, you are the man? YES.

78501, I love Kanye.

I just couldn't stand talking to him after a point.

It was like:
GOD DAMN IT ROB I KNOW YOU THATS YOUR CHARACTER I KNOW YOU JUST FLED QUAFFED A TELEPORT HIDE HIDE AND CUT LINK FAGGOT

Except throw in some "yo yo dawg"'s and "wuts up mah homie" and other overused wigger phrases. Yeah...
*BLOCKED*

But then he redeems himself with his characters.

Idiots are more entertaining when observed from a distance.

I'm still flitting between britain and the US, I barely have time for surfing let alone holidaying (or even CF. Haven't done more than roll a lowbie thief in 6 months). But probably in the next few months, I'll see what takes me that way and give a shout if something does. Fingers crossed, I'll soon stop renting out enough of my life that I can actually live it myself.

Zulgh has done so much and put in so much effort and time coding and helping the mud. We've all suffered a great loss, I hope CF stays afloat. Sad to see you go =(
78452, Good riddance.
Posted by WarEagle2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Obviously, kidding. But seriously, enjoy all the free-time you're going to get now. I'm sure a part of you enjoyed CF with all you did, but another part had to see this as a pain in the ass JOB.

Good luck with everything, big guy.

Hmm,

This had better be a joke. You definitely didn't clear this with me first at any rate! If it is any consolation, know that I have enjoyed the many changes you have brought to this game. I have liked every class revamp you've done. Best of luck man..

78441, Well I've had a chance to cool off a bit
Posted by Zulghinlour on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Though I do realize it is April Fool's day, this isn't a joke. I've been having more and more creative differences with the long term direction of the mud with the rest of the staff. I've finally decided that it's not worth sinking my time into something that I disagree so strongly about.

I hope the community can pull CF back from the brink that it currently teters on, but it will do so without me. I know that I will miss it dearly, and I'll probably still lurk around playing a mortal here or there, but the reality is I don't have as much time as I used to and I have many other higher priorities in my life now.

Goodbye and good luck!

- Peter
78442, That's not right
Posted by Un-be-lievable on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Zulgh arguably contributed the most for the mud. If you have creative differences, I think the players should get some say on how the creative differences should be addressed and who, if any, should be leaving.

Sure it's happened in the past with some imms; but if this post is real and if Zulgh (who sounds like he's argued to the point where he has given up) is leaving based on such 'differences', I guess even I should be really analyzing what the hell is going up there in the Immlands.

I don't want this to be a flamefest. However, in the interest of public disclosure, I'll be the first to ask where this game is going, and to that effect, what differences Zulgh was so strongly opinionated about that caused this reaction.

78443, A sad day
Posted by Saemio on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
What you said about time and higher priorities hits close to home. Thank you so much for all the time and hard work you put into making this mud great. Best wishes in life, sir.
78444, Figured this would happen eventually
Posted by Guy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
When I first saw this post I was like damn, thats a mean april fools joke.

But now I realise its no joke at all.
I can't deny you and I probably never had any hope of seeing eye to eye on things. If you ever bothered paying attention to what I said in the first place.

You were a driving force behind the mud. Often quiet, rare to interact. But constantly turning out new stuff and fixing old things.

You'll be sorely missed old chap. Regardless of what some might say, you are the base of this mud. And your passing onto better more real-life things will probably be the deathnell for this game.

But, I atleast hope life goes well for you Mr Coder and can only hope there are no sour feelings between us.
78445, And if this is a joke. Its really mean =P nt

Posted by Minyar1 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I'm wondering why so many folks are having trouble with the "creative differences" category. Would you mind spelling it out a bit more. I'm not asking that you totally go off like an Ordasen did, but just an idea. Those of us who "want to pull it back from the brink" need to understand more about where we are tottering, because we don't necessarily see it. Who is running this place if you arent? I never did get a follower of yours to be successful enough to you, which stinks, but most of them were successful, so that was fun.

I hope we can play some morts together.
78449, RE: Well I've had a chance to cool off a bit
Posted by Anon_ on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I realize that the staff doesn't like to talk about this stuff with the playerbase, but I'm personally very curious about this, and I'm sure everyone else is as well. Considering how easily rumors spring up, I really think it would be in your (the imm's) best interest to discuss this. This isn't the first time an imm or heroimm has deleted citing dissatisfaction with some staff policies or other. Obviously it's your call, but at some point I think you have to question whether the secrecy thing is really working for you.
78450, You'll be much missed.
Posted by NMTehW on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM

Q: What is the direction you want the mud to go in? I understand you can't or won't divulge its actual direction. I just want to know what you had envisioned, and if you are willing to elaborate, what has gone wrong.

Well, good luck with things Zulg, you know we love you!
78462, This is simply unacceptable. I demand, in the name of ...
Posted by Cartherlen on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
the Empire that you reconsider your decision and revoke this heinous choice. Seriously, you have been epic in what you've given to this game. I don't know what differences you have with the staff, so it's hard to presume what fanfare could ever be spoken that might entice you to remain. Suffice to say that your contributions have long kept things on a keel that keep this gaming running. Please do not leave. Take a vacation. Go visit Nep and Valg and punch them in their noses. Seriously though, your contributions shaped this game into something amazing, and the implementation of your ideas has been nearly unparalleled.

I'm stroking your ego, but deservedly so. Please do not leave us, man. We need you here. Desperately. Carrionfields has arguably entered its twilight hours. Remain strong through them, and take leave when all is said and done. Your contributions will leave an indelible mark upon everyone and anyone who has grown within the mud, or played it over any meaningful duration.

Less time? Fine, step back from your role as the obligatory coder of all things "mortal want." Take a huge ####ing break and play chars that PK the hell out of the arrogant douchebags that pervade the ranges now. YOU, of all people, have the skill to make them kneel down and start suckling like yearlings in a drought.

We do not want you to go. None of us care how long a break you might wish to take. Those who play would suffer (unfortunately, not very silently, in most cases) in your absence. But I think I speak for everyone who has played this game for any substantial amount of time when I say that your leaving will be detrimental on a scale unheard of on this mud. Further, I also suspect almost every player that's been here for any relevant duration would agree that we'd prefer to see you hash things out and remain if even only in an advisory capacity.

Your input is too ####ing valuable to disappear on that level. The idea that you'll continue to play mortals is awesome. But the loss of your role as an immortal is devastating.

If you've lost so much control that your ideas no longer influence this game, what hope do the rest of us have (who have been here through the years) that anything or any changes will ever reflect game necessity again?

This really sucks. Please reconsider. Take some time off. And please, reconsider.

Yes, the best lies have a bit of truth in them...

>Though I do realize it is April Fool's day, this isn't a
>joke.

Okay...so it is a joke. People cast it aside so quickly, I had to take it up another notch! Don't worry, I'm riding this god-forsaken-rented-mule into the ground. If anybody ends up pulling the plug on this alternate reality we immerse ourselves in, you're damn right it will be me.

>I've been having more and more creative differences
>with the long term direction of the mud with the rest of the
>staff. I've finally decided that it's not worth sinking my
>time into something that I disagree so strongly about.

This is a complaint we've seen from others on their way out, and quite believable when you get any group of people together to work on something collaboratively. The amusing part to me was when a few Immortals hit me up through various channels and were asking WHO, since they thought I pretty much did the majority of the creative stuff anyway.

>I hope the community can pull CF back from the brink that it
>currently teters on, but it will do so without me.

This I do believe (other than doing it without me). Adapt or die is the simple way to look at it and we haven't done a good job adapting.

>I know
>that I will miss it dearly, and I'll probably still lurk
>around playing a mortal here or there, but the reality is I
>don't have as much time as I used to and I have many other
>higher priorities in my life now.

This actually remains true, I do have higher priorities in my life these days, and that's why something as big as the shapeshifter revamp took a year and a half.

>Goodbye and good luck!

And just like that...I'm back!

>- Peter

Unless this is the next notch of your morbid April Fools, and you're only returning to tell us you're not returning from the return of your leave.

You suck for that.

Still.

I think my comments hold true. Sadly, they were heartfelt and I feel like a sap for having proferred them in the face of your personal amusement. Asshole.

Kudos. I got got.

>time into something that I disagree so strongly about.

This is a complaint we've seen from others on their way out, and quite believable when you get any group of people together to work on something collaboratively. The amusing part to me was when a few Immortals hit me up through various channels and were asking WHO, since they thought I pretty much did the majority of the creative stuff anyway."

And the only answer I could come up with was Daevryn, and as cool as Nep may be, I would have had to hunt down and injure him. Not really, but I should have avoided the entire internet yesterday as was my plan, but I read this and it was seriously depressing even if I couldn't quite bring myself to believe it.

You are the #### Zulg, but pull this kind of crap again and I'll make the most annoying Zulg follower ever in punishment! You have to gag my prays to retain sanity I tell you. Fear the empoweree!
